People always bought Toyotas because they were affordable, simple and reliable. They aren't any of those things anymore.

Scotty is right, people want a car that lasts and runs. They need to get back to quality.

The new engines don’t even get that much better gas mileage from the prior engines 😂

I retired from a Toyota plant in the southern United States. Was there for 25 years. Worked in off-line repair for a couple of years. When you made a repair, you documented it on the computer, which tracked how often the same repair was made over time. Come to find out, once the computer counted a repair 'x' amount of times, it simply would stop counting them, making it appear the defect and repair weren't happening nearly as often as it actually was. Complaining about this to bosses was wasted breath. This is just ONE example of many.

They need to get back to building them in Japan

I’ve been to Japan and seeing how high their customer service is, I know, they do not screw the customer over. They build products to last. If their overseas team can’t do the job right, maybe it’s best to make all their vehicles in Japan

I’m in Lexington, KY ….near Toyota in Georgetown. They are losing the experienced workers to retirement and the new have little work ethic and pride in quality.

The U.S. military use all diesel with no egr or def systems because they last and are more efficient, diesels can be clean and optimized with ecu tuning and in cars they get high mpg due to the power weight ratio being better than in heavy trucks. We need more here!!

Toyota started having problems when they put low friction oil rings on their piston years ago. I have an older Toyota that doesn't use a drop of oil between changes and has over 200, 000 miles on it.

My 2014 Highlander was great. My 2020 Highlander has been subject to several recalls, had issues with the gauges, alignment problems and a broken a/c. Certainly not the quality I expected from Toyota.

I prefer a truck/suv because our roads are falling apart.

The machining debris explanation sounds like a cop-out for poor design.

Sticking with my 2017 5th generation 4runner off road, I just love it more every time I drive it.

You never had to tell me not to buy the new 1st year production model of a new engine. I don't like paying 50k to be a Beta tester.
