Trying to catch the driving experience on film is not that easy. Like the car does not want to give up its secret. Nevertheless, you can see how beautifully she handles speed bumps. Inside the car you won't even notice they're there.
Btw, the faster you drive, the better!

I love how the driver knows he's immune to bumps and keeps driving at full speed

The only car manufacturer that understand's what car suspension is supposed to do...

I once had a neighbour who owned a DS. The street where we lived was a one way street, in front of his house was a speed bump, the only parking spot he had was just in front of the bump. Every morning when he went to work he started the DS, let it rise and drove off. one Monday morning (after a particularly heavy weekend) he overslept In a hurry he jumped in the DS, started it and immediately drove away . . . ripping the complete exhaust (and some other paraphernalia) from underneath his automobile. Luckily he worked at a garage which made it easier for him to repair the damage.

I wished Citroen still use Hydropneumatic suspension, The day Citroen stops innovate and for the very least being unique is the day Citroen stop being Citroen...courtesy of PSA Peugeot.

When I was kid there was a DS parked in my street. I loved watching it as the owner started it and it rose up like a hovering space ship.
Magnificent car.

Either the DS was a century ahead of it's time, or we simply started just trading tech for a bunch of screens and displays.

My uncle had one of those back in the mid 70's. The ride was unreal even over cobblestone roads at 20 to 50km/h.

I had a Citroen BX with that suspension. One of the best, most comfortable rides ever.

Ahh. The magic "flying carpet". You really don't know how good they "ride" until you've been a passenger or driven one. Absolutely astonishing, nothing has come even close to the ride comfort since.👍👍👍

I'm surprised German automakers didn't reverse engineer the Citroen DS

Citroen every 20 years: hey lets inovate and make a badass car. After that we will make unreliable econoboxes.

Didn't this model also incorporated moving headlights synchronized with steering wheel?

I've never seen a speedbump this gentle.

It's the only car I'm actually glad about that the prices finally took flight, all the more reason for people to treasure them and to keep them in tip top shape for many generations to come.

Had a Austin 1100 with the same suspension. The front left is connected to the rear left. So when the front tire hits a bump it raises the rear tire thus keeping the car level. An added bonus to this is when you corner hard the two tires work against each other giving you firm handling. Simple reliable and adjustable, if you wanted firmer handling you simply added air to the system with a air hose.
