we feed ALL of our fish twice a day (morning and night) but we package our fish being shipped out in the morning before feeding. A/Cs metabolism is so fast that they should be pretty "cleaned out" before we package them.

What if a big difference in pH or shock

I have a question. I just received an 8 inch tigrinus 24 hours in the bag. The guy who shipped me the fish didn’t tell me how to acclimate. It was the first time I got fish delivered. So I decided to drip acclimate. After about 45 min I threw the fish in the tank and headed to work. When I got home I saw one of the gills was red. Looked like ammonia poisoning. 3 days later the gills are a little pink but pretty much getting back to normal color. He still hasn’t ate anything yet. Should I be concerned or just give him more time?

Just temp acclimation? What about gradually adding tank water to get them used to the water chemistry?

do you not feed the fish you ship a day or two in advance to cut down on waste or does the amquel take care of this

Thanks for this, all good info! Makes me excited for MY first box!! IF I ever get the water right! sheesh...crazy well water is giving me fits, lol I REALLY don't want to invest a couple hundred dollars in fish only to have them die because my water is unstable. SO we wait....and wait... :0(~

This is for Freshwater fish...not Saltwater. Saltwater need higher PH but just putting fish directly into a tank will stress fish. Freshwater fish need low ph so his method kind of makes sense for freshwater fish since the ph in packaged fish is already low.
