Hi from the UK, i have done everything up to the bit where you break apart, I click off and go to do the squares like you have the scarf doesnt highlight i have to move the image and do the scarf bits separate which takes me ages. Also i cant get the eyes to be half black with white in the centre? What am I doing wrong please.

I don't know what it is, but literally EVERY time I watch an Inkscape tutorial, mine doesn't do what the person shows in the video. As an example for this one, I did exactly what you did (although my box looked slightly different) and A) it never made it another color and B) when I selected the option you selected, it didn't add a new layer.

Really helpful video but I still have one question. After breaking the image apart, how can you make one of the bits transparent? The 'none' fill reverts back to black. Like say you want to make the feet of the penguin transparent but keep the border intact? thanks

I'm watching this after you posted this 3 years ago and my trace bitmap dialogue box looks nothing like yours so it's a little hard to follow. No reflection on you. At least you speak very clearly and describe the steps well. I watched a similar one before yours and the person mumbled and went so fast I couldn't keep up. Thank you for your work.
