It's also important to review your budget regularly to make sure you're catching everything & make adjustments accordingly. Track your progress, and even project when you'll be making key milestones, like paying off a big debt or when you'll get your emergency fund filled, etc. Keeping your sights on the future really helps you get past those hard times or doldrums of the grind.

It's insane to donate 10% of your take home pay to church, especially with debt.

I think if you're in debt, the tithing can wait...Especially spending only $250 a month on food.
The tithing system was created to help out the poor/struggling members of the church and/or local community and pay for its upkeep. If you have liabilities like that, YOU ARE who the church should be supporting (at least emotionally). Put that money towards your debt & get involved ~ volunteers are always needed & the kids/teens need mentors.

That’s too much for church yes u need to donate but pay the bills first and more into the emergency funds bec that’s not enough. I’ve been through times I’ve used up all 3k in a few months.

I gave to the church when poor and honestly I think it did help me. And most people don't seem to realize that a lot of the homeless shelters/food kitchens/domestic violence help, etc are run and funded by religious organizations. We can help ourselves while also helping others.

Gas (heat) and electric is $230 a month on the budget plan. Water is $75, Phone is $80. Gasoline is close for me. Im in WI.

$55 for car insurance is very low for most highly populated areas. Probably about right for someone who lives in a low crime area

I don't have roommates and im a single parent and my budget looks alot like this but I still make savings a priority. I literally couldnt survive without saving and planning as far in advance as possible.
