The price of a used shit box or anything with wheels has gotten so ridiculous as of late, can't even get a decent car for under $3, 000 anymore.

drift tax, influence tax, car youtuber tax, y'all reveal all the hidden gems of cars and the price goes up 10k overnight. The only cheap enthusiast cars are clapped out FRSs

Dare I say it…..YouTube is the real reason some of these cars in the car community have become so expensive. I get it, makes for great content but we can’t deny that S chasis, 350z, Supra to name a few wouldn’t be as goated if it wasn’t for YouTube.

And don’t forget how expensive the aftermarket scene has gotten. My dad’s been modifying for over 40 years (specifically LandCruisers) and the parts have gone up thousands of dollars.

There are too many I KNOW WHAT I GOT on the FB marketplace... also, why people refuse to give me the misserable VIN # when I want to buy a car!? I just want a clean title!

People are still chasing 90s stuff like there a dime a dozen, and it's 2003. Mid 00s to early 2010s is the cheap junk right now

Saw a listing for a Honda del sol for 1, 200. It was basically a jig saw puzzle with a bunch of its parts in the trunk

An overlooked problem is how there are just no enthusiasts cars that are getting old and cheap now, just fwd ecoboxes, Suv's and automatics. Ten years ago the affordable cars where from the 90s when rwd/manual was more common and people in general bought Coupés more often. With rising suv sales it's no wonder all enthusiasts cars are the same ones from ten years ago

Here in New Zealand we used to get S15s for as low as 15k, for a Spec R. R32/33 GTR were late 20's early 30k. 180SX and S14s even cheaper. Evos, STI Subaru were everywhere, and reasonably affordable. Now you never see them, and are well north of 50k when you do see them for sale.

The problem is not only inflation and lack of pay growth, but also the fact that so many of the good cars got scrapped with cash for clunkers, which caused used car parts and prices to soar

Americans ruined JDM cars, as soon as they were legal to import, the prices shot up. The days where you could buy R32 or R33 for under 10k are long gone. I'm glad I got to experience that, I had R33 GTS-T and paid 7k for it.

It’s partially because of y’all and every other car influencer that shows off the cars that are cheap and then all the sudden they’re not cheap anymore

Forget the desired cars, those are in double comma bracket now but beaters are now getting expensive for no reason at all, horses used to be the only transportation then they were for the wealthy and now they are the cheap alternative again

I’m an older car enthusiast. It’s the same cycle over and over. Cars get expensive for no real reason once the “fad” is over the prices will level out. Too many fake car people paying too much just for clout. And things are way easy now. if you didn’t live near a track back in the day chances were you were catalog shopping for parts, if you were lucky enough to live near a track you cold go to a local speed shop, even then it was done by catalog and the wait time was for ever.😂

Big crash is coming for the car market. The amount of cars produced has more than doubled for most manufacturers. Doesnt stop dealerships from creating artificial scarcity though. But don't worry, their money is gonna run out soon since people are fed up of the high prices.
