When she said “I just want to feel my best self” my heart actually broke. She’s so beautiful she could definitely rock a pixie cut

When the first girl said "I just wanted to feel my best self . . . I want to feel better. I miss the confidence I had." -- Oh my goodness, it tugged at my heart. She was strong enough to speak what so many people feel. ❤

Hey its me the first girl! I was natural 10 plus years..loved it..my youtube was actually a hair channel! I also did natural hair for a living...I only decided to relax my hair because since having my son I have no time to do my hair..literally not a moment to myself. I walked around with matted hair a year while suffering from post partum depression and I just wanted to relax my hair so it would be easier to manage and I could stop looking a mess..I have older girls, and I didn't want them to start to think it's ok to not take care of yourself. So this was my failed attempt at taking care of myself 😔 ..currently still wearing a scarf because I have no sitter while I go to a salon, hence the reason I attempted the relaxer myself..but thank you everyone for your kind words and thank you Brad..next step is chopping it all off like u guys recommended
.❤❤

I felt the first girl so much when she said she just wanted to have her hair "done" and just wanted to feel her best self. Often as black women, we attach so much of our value to the way our hair looks. If we dont have loose curls or inches of hair that falls down our back or if our hair isnt styled and tucked in neatly, sometimes it makes you feel...less beautiful. It took me so long to love the way my hair looks and I know so many others who have felt the same way. It's a hard feeling to combat and I still fight with it everyday. But no matter what you're beautiful. Your hair does not define you, both girls were beautiful before and after ❤️

Sidenote: even the pros used to tell us kids to wait for the relaxer to burn a bit. We were basically praised when we could take the burn longer because then we knew it was getting bone straight 😩😬😬 I don't miss those days

Hair is such a personal journey and no one should feel pressured to do one thing or the other. Relaxer was so normal when I was a kid and I honestly got burned a few times from people who didn't know what they were doing.  I went natural back in 2016 and it was also a journey (iykyk) . Decided to start my loc journey last year and I've never been happier with my hair.

I used to do hair and had a client that wanted me to do a relaxer on her. I told her we'd have to let her perm grow out first I because a perm and relaxer will make your hair fall out. She wanted to just do it on her own and I again tried to explain to her that Perm (Ammonium thioglycolate) + Relaxer (Sodium Hydroxide) are the 2 main ingredients that are used in hair removers like Nair. She didn't believe me and came in the next day bald. She did look cute in hats.

the STRENGTH to look at what just happened and say "welp, this is what it is. i'll do better next time" is awesome. both of these beautiful ladies went through every stage of grief with their hair and came out stronger. hair is such an important part of a lot of people's identity and security, but it's also good to realize that it's just hair. you are still you and you are still beautiful no matter what your hair looks like 💛

Just wanna let y’all know YOUR HAIR DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR BEAUTY. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL WITH AND WITHOUT YOUR HAIR❤️❤️

I know she’s upset that she ruined her hair but at least she has the head and face shape to pull off a bald hairstyle. Not everyone can do that.

Can I please give that first girl a hug!?! The poor thing! My heart just broke for her!
She is stunning! I agree, shaved with color!

I think a shaved head is highly underrated! It's all about the confidence a woman exudes that makes it look great!

The neutralizer doesn't lock in the "straight", the neutralizer simply neutralizes the action of the chemicals that straightened the hair in other words, if you rinse the hair and don't neutralize it the LYE keeps going and melting and destroying the hair. The short version: the neutralizer deactivates the lye.

I have Alopecia, had it since I was 9 (now 25) and do feel for them because it’s such an emotional change when your hair falls out, I remember my mom having to shave the remains of my hair and it’s so profound that people really don’t understand the emotional side of hair loss. It’s more than ‘just hair’ it’s part of your identity! Xxx

I’m envious of how good she looks bald 😭 the amount of times I’ve been like ‘should I just shave my head’ but knowing I’d look AWFUL. She looks incredible!

My sister permed her bleached hair on my birthday one year and it slid down the drain. She was out here looking like fire marshal Bill. We still cackle about that 😩😆

I definitely understand what the first girl is going through. I hated being natural and crying over my hair. I’ve been so much more happier since I relaxed. My hair broke off so badly when I was natural. Now my hair actually looks and feels healthy.

Aww I feel so sad for them. They took it pretty well, and I give them massive props for staying calm! Like Brad said “hair means a lot to people”

First girl made me cry when she said "I just wanted to feel beautiful". Want to give her a hug, hope her hair made a recovery
