I Asked an AI to Show Me Hell (And It Terrified Me)

Artificial intelligence seems to think hell is as scary as it's made out to be.

"Stable Diffusion is a machine learning, text-to-image model to generate digital images from natural language descriptions. The underlying approach was developed at LMU Munich and then extended by a collaboration of StabilityAI, LMU, and Runway with support from EleutherAI and LAION. The model can be used for other tasks too, like generating image-to-image translations guided by a text prompt.
It can run on most consumer hardware equipped with a modest GPU and was hailed by PC World as "the next killer app for your PC".
Stability AI, the company behind Stable Diffusion, is in talks to raise capital at a valuation of up to one billion dollars as of September 2022."

1:52 there is something compelling about this 'gate to hell' something about it being not so grand and honestly quite liminal. Like something you wouyld see in a dream and be told/have an idea in your head of 'dont go through there, that place is trouble'. That is the vibe I get from that image.

The images of all the people seemingly turned into human stalagmites, standing in unless rows like an army of tortured souls is honestly a really interesting yet horrifying interpretation of hell. What's that one circle of hell in Dante's Inferno where all the people are half buried in different ways? Makes me think of that.

This animation is insanely good. The zombie-looking guys are terrifying and the morphing from one body part to another works very well with the concept of hell

I feel like this is the most unsettling ai art that I've ever seen. The fact that ai hasn't completely understood the human body makes it 10x more horrific to see faceless crowds of burning people.
