it's like magic. And so strange how your ears are used to the initial voice until it's fixed and it sound waaaay better

As a hs student and audio engineer in training, this is amazing to watch!

This is literally what we learned the first few days in the production course I'm doing In college lol. Also masking, EQ becomes super simple if you do it methodically and deliberately.

Nice idea that you do it live on your voice and not on a sample

One more little tip on pulling out bad frequencies: as you’re scanning around for problem frequencies as shown, when you find it, carefully and quickly let go of the mouse and leave that frequency’s level all the way up. Then go down to the manual controls and use the mouse to move the level down on the dashboard. that way, you leave the locator precisely where the problem lies. Sometimes, when you’re doing the “drag the pin“ method, you will unwittingly slide left or right on your way down and get out of line. This solves that.

good video. clear a/b example. one thing i wanted to bring up was when you suggested doing sharp notch sweep to find the resonant frequencies, i would like to advocate against doing that. heres why. If you take and boost any frequency in such a way its going to distort or ring or have some quality thats unwanted. so what i would suggest, is not boosting so high to do it.. make it sharp, but only bring it up like 4-5 db to do your sweep. if theres any TROUBLING resonant frequencies i promise theyll stand out this way amd then youll be making those cuts on ACTUAL resonant frequencies and not perceived resonant frequencies through such high db boost. hope thats clear enough and helps. thanks!

Thank you for actually putting good advice. I might already know this stuff, but remember everyone it really depends on the environment you record in.

For a second, i thought he was increasing and decreasing his forehead size. . .

Jokes aside, this video is really cool! I like that you describe what each change and give the names/terms to the change

Excellent Eq tutorial. It really highlights how the changes were affecting you voice. I would be interested in more tips like this. Thanks for sharing this with everyone.

Quickest eq tutorial I’ve ever seen, yet it managed to explain everything I needed to know in as much detail as needed. Amazing

that trick of finding the harsh frequencies is super helpful. final mix had a bit much high end for my tastes but it's all subjective
