The rag sounds much more interesting on the old piano.

This does make me wonder how these composers wouldve changed their styles, if at all, if they had modern pianos.

The old one is kinda bright, I prefer the softer and fuller tone of the new piano a lot. Except at the end the ragtime example sounded much more authentic on the old one. :)

it seems like the change of environment is affecting too... i kinda prefer the old one. Stunning difference

I like how I can judge how truly difficult something is to play by how much time you spend looking through me or at the keys.

The classical composers sound better on the modern piano, even though a good portion of them played on pianos of that age, if not older. But I make the exception for Scott Joplin, he always sounds exceptional on older pianos. Ragtime just sounds amazing on brassy old pianos! This was a fun video, thank you! 😃

I like the older one; it seems to produce more harmonics. Of course, the different rooms have an effect on the sound, too.

I was in the middle of putting words to my thoughts on the differences in tone, and then lost it noticing the portrait of you was staring at me as well.

1800s just sounds like it hits better and has cleaner notes to me. Your skill level never ceases to amaze 🙏🏼😁 Thanks for all your content!

Even tho the sound of the new piano is way more clear I like the sound of the old one better. It has a way deeper sound.😊

I remember going to a music museum several years ago in Spartanburg, South Carolina, they had a collection of very old and also new pianos. You could DEFINITELY tell the difference. It was quite amazing. BTW, Joplin sounds incredible on the older piano.

What I learned is that it's good to have the instrument(s) that you feel best represent the music your playing. Thank you for your videos! They are great entertainment!

Great comparison video.
This reminds me of all the old cowboy movies I've seen. Most saloons had an old geezer playing in the background and the piano sounded like your old one.
I wonder if the movie-makers used old pianos in the movies to add an authentic feeling?
Probably not, since back when they made those movies, old pianos were pretty cheap; sometimes free.
(Still waiting for you to play the bagpipes!)

I still find it absolutely stunning how you can play without looking half the time

Dang both had their charms. I like the new one on some melodies and the old one for other melodies.

The antique piano is giving me Western movie saloon vibes. Is this what it sounded like when it was new though?

They all have their own character and personality and the acoustics of the room play a role too! But what stands out for me is the supremely exceptional playing by your fingers maestro! 👍🙏😎❤

I love the comparison videos!
The idiosyncrasies of the 1800s piano and its tinny tone make it for me
