OneWheel vs Electric Unicycle (EUC), which should you buy and why?

I created this video because it's a question I get a lot of since I ride it all. I'll try to break it down by both the numbers and the fun factor so you can make and educated choice on how to spend your money.

I really enjoyed your genuine comparison. I've been riding a peddle unicycle for several years and have been wanting a onewheel for a while now but after seeing your video and realizing the versatility and off road capability of an euc, I've changed my mind.

Hi, thanks for another great video getting into the fine details of electric transport.
I agree totally on EUCs being better transport than a onewheel. EUC have better top speed, better range, better accel/brakes, better stability etc. Much better as a form of transport getting from A to B.
Think of the onewheel more of an "activity" for the pure joy of riding it, hitting up ramps, steps, whatever.
As a comparison I would say a jet-ski is much better transport than a surfboard. If you want to travel from A to B on the water the jetski is better. But the surfboard is for the sheer joy of riding it, even if just stuck on the same beach and doing less top speed. The onewheel is kinda like a powered surfboard, so that's even better still.
As a couple minor points; you said the EUC is much harder to learn. The onewheel has a different learning curve. You can "ride" it after 10 minutes practice, but the really good riding skills come after hundreds of hours. Being able to really get the most out of what it can do.
You said the EUC is more manueverable, I argue that the onewheel is, because of the fact your feet are further apart and further from the pivot point the smallest feet movements have a lot more effect.
And you said the onewheel can't make it up your hill. I argue that it can do that easily. I've been riding up concrete skate ramps (and some grass banks) which are much steeper. It's one of those learned skills on the onewheel.
I really respect your EUC skills and knowlege. And I understand that if it is primarily a form of transport that an EUC is a better choice than a onewheel! But by the same arguemnt an e-scooter is better transport than EUC. And an e-bike, or motorcycle is a better transport than a scooter. And a car is better transport than a motorcycle.
But sometimes it's not about transport, it's about going to a car park and hitting up ramps and blocks for an hour of high-skill joy.

Why the smaller EUC over the 18"? what is it you don't like about the King Song 18xl?

Thank you for the comparison. I made my mind to get Pint over boosted board. It is mainly for walking dogs. Like you already know, dogs stop and go constantly and I have to be able to stop instantly because I will be riding it on street. It doesn’t look like the EUC can do that. But come to think of it, OW is also not so stoppable. What do you think if you have to get one PEV for walk your dog regularly on the street?

Nice vid. I loved the Onewheel, but unexpected nose-dives were unnerving, sold it. Considering the KS S18. What do you think of suspension? Do you still ride?

This video helped me decide on buying an EUC vs a OneWheel. Thank you!

Nobody ever talks about riding comfort when doing reviews, and that is pretty shocking considering we're talking about 20 and 40 mile ranges. The EUC looks pretty uncomfortable if you ask me. Riding with that in between your legs looks like there would be a lot of rubbing happening. I could see it being uncomfortable in shorts. I am curious how difficult foot adjustment is, which is probably the biggest factor when it comes to comfort. I can tell you that on my onewheel XR, adjusting my foot stance is pretty simple overall. I can make my stance wider while riding as needed. I can bend my knees low to stretch. Even still, I will frequently stop my onewheel to stretch and walk in place because standing in one place isn't comfortable over long periods. The EUC looks like it would be impossible to adjust your footing while riding. If you could balance to where you could momentarily lift 1 leg to stretch that would make a huge difference, you definitely aren't doing that on a onewheel.

Greetings. A few months ago we had a discussion back and forth in reference to EUCs vs Onewheels. Now that the EUC click has finally happened in my brain, I have to admit that I’m leaning towards EUCs because of the comfortable riding position plus being able to play music through the EUC speaker (which I think helped with the click because I paid more attention to the music and less on trying so hard to ride). Ultimately I think they are both awesome devices.

One thing I was wondering about; Would you say the fall face first on the EUC vs the OneWheel's falling from your side. I grewup riding Snowboards, Skateboards, Surfboards, Wakeboards and learned to fall from the side. I'm just curious about the fall face first.

Question, I got a boosted board and am thinking a onewheel for trail rides and to/from work. It's pricy and your video definitely helps, but do you really think a EUC would be better buy?

I have a Onewheel XR and 2 Segway Minipros. I have 700 miles on the Minipros and they have been very reliable and pretty safe, with the audible feeback. I have 23 miles on the Onewheel XR and have still not taken it off a flat parking lot, due to the learning curve and my lack of skill. By the way, how would you compare the learning curve of the Onewheel to the EUC for someone with on previous skating or surfing or snowboarding experience? I was riding the Segway Minipros after just a relatively short learning time. Another plus for the EUC that I see is the ability to get off and easily walk it or take it into a restaurant compared to having to carry the Onewheel. That is a BIG plus on crowded sidewalks and walking paths.

I still like the onewheel better even though it doesn’t achieve the same range and speed it’s still pretty awesome!

I haven’t seen a recent vid, do you still ride the EUC ?

I’ve owned 2 Onewheels over the last number of years and sold them both once I started riding EUCs. Onewheels are fun to ride but I have your same viewpoints on them. I’m curious to know more about your dislike of the 18L. Like you, I have a preorder in on a 16x, but was considering an 18xl. Is the 18L too sluggish for you? I’m getting more excited for the 16x now. I hope it’s a winner. Nice that you were able to get in on the demo model going around soon. Looking forward to your opinions on it. Thanks for the videos!

How long does it take to charge the EUC compared to the OW?

I enjoyed the bonus entertainment provided by the grumpy dog. Nice comparison of the products.

Nobody wants to say the truth????
Just say the Unicycle is SAFER ( no out of nowhere NOSE DIVE) which is injuring a lot of riders. Oh but that is rider error on the one wheel right? WRONG!!! Unicycle is cheaper, has a longer range and let's you know the battery is low all without your personal cellphone. SO GO EUC FOLKS.😎👍
I sold my XR recently and bought an EUC....best move of my life and after the sale of my XR had money left over, used that portion to buy something else

Great job on this video. I wonder if your opinion would be different if you didn't live on such on such a steep hill.

Thumbs up for the co-hosts. I'm really thinking hard about my Pint pre-order given that I have two EUCs.
