Onewheel or Electric Unicycle - Is EUC competition for Onewheel?

After riding my Kingsong 18XL for a while now I feel like I can finally share some thoughts on Onewheel vs EUC? Are you riding one of these devices? Let me know what your ride is in the comments and if you’d be willing to try another type of device. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video! I got into Onewheels before EUCs. At first I thought EUCs were silly (how wrong I was). My primary PEV is a Dualtron Compact e-scooter so I am used to riding at city traffic speeds and beyond (40MPH). I got the Onewheel as my asphalt snowboard for riding around in parks and it has been a fun vehicle. One day late last year I decided to learn to ride an EUC on a whim. Once I got the basics down and was able to get a few hundred miles down on an EUC I really couldn't go back to the Onewheel XR. I respect any PEV choice someone makes but I really couldn't justify keeping the XR as I pretty much stopped riding it as I don't like how it feels riding on San Francisco streets. I sold it at a very good price to a local Onewheel enthusiast. I can keep up and surpass traffic on my Gotway Nikola and complete 25 mile group rides throughout all the hills and terrain of San Francisco. I wouldn't even want to try that on an XR. I know people applaud the off-road capabilities of the XR but the EUC off-roaders do much more amazing things, in my opinion, especially with the suspension wheels. In the end, if you enjoy the ride just go out and have fun on whatever PEV you have :)

I saved up for 9 months to buy a onewheel. Your point at 7:22 is the same reason I recently spent the money on a V11. I grew up skateboarding and snowboarding very avidly, so I hope I don't regret my decision. Ideal to have both. Someday perhaps.

I wish there was a way to ride sideways on a EUC. Would be amazing because riding sideways makes you more slippery in the air. One of the main drawbacks of going fast on a EUC is that your wholebody acts like a windsail and it really pushes you back, making it hard to reach top speed.

I think the best analogy which you made in the video is skiing vs snowboarding. Similar but not the same. If just measured by capability and practicality, the EUC takes the cake, but in terms of fun, this is where the comparison gets difficult. That being said, i think EUC is the better all-rounder because it is equally good as a leisure and transportation device. Same can't be said for the Onewheel.

I almost exclusively ride my OW off road since I have a large yard but no sidewalks and a road too busy for PEVs. How does the EUC handle rough terrain? Can it jump roots? Curious as I've never tried one

Ironically I started with an XR but after a gnarly nosedive and a shoulder blade fracture I sold it and bought an 18XL just like you but after 250 miles I now like EUCs a lot more than OW ..

There is no comparison, the onewheel is for people who want that fresh powder feel everywhere, their range is crap, speed is sluggish compared to all other pev’s. If you’re all about practicality, an Euc is for you, if you want a fun ride, and you don’t care about range and speed, the onewheel is for you.

What you want to check out is a lacroix electric skateboard. It is exactly what you are looking for...carving similar to the onewheel but at higher speed. Very easy to carve at 28-30mph and feel stable/comfortable. It also has the range. I own a one wheel, la croix, and boosted board (my original eskate...now guest board). I agree with you on nothing full replacing the one wheel but for fast carving like a snowboard on pavement, the lacroix is better. onewheel is better for goofing around at lower speeds or off road. thanks for the thoughts on EUC, I haven't tried that yet.

I use a Pint for running to corner stores, a Lectric XL for going to the running trails, and my MSX 100v covers everything else.

Great vid - exactly my situation - like the EUC, love the OW - connects back to skateboarding

Hi can someone answer how comfortable is an EUC to ride for longer periods?

i put onewheel in a category with other small wheeled devices. E-boards, hoverboards, e-skates.
All are short range fun, but with built in face plant danger😣
I put EUC with scooters, e-bikes, and trikkes. Bigger pevs that can replace a car. 25mph and up

I would have to agree

Both wheels are very different and awesome and the EUC and one wheel community needs to come together and rip it … together! (If the EUC riders Stick to around 15-19 mph, and I think that’s where the issue comes in picking, they are different, I don’t like one more than the other, I’ve had both, but I usually get on my EUC cause I’m trying to get somewhere in a speedy manner, and my EUC has suspension and I can launch off jumps and strairs and table tops, and hit insane slopes and drops but yeah I would never say one is better than the other, only the one wheel can you carve and shred 🤙💪🙏

You summed it up well. EUCs are faster, have better range and stronger motor, have less chance for cutout and come in many different iterations while the OneWheel is great for the side stance. I have been doing EUC for over 5 years now and it has been dramatic going through the rapid evolution in its technology within that time. I have ridden with my OneWheel friends and tried their wheel and yes that side stance feels cool. Would I spend $2K plus on a OneWheel? No way! Future Motion needs to evolve the OneWheel as much as EUCs have and maybe I will get one. For now, I love my clavicle and my ribs too much. Whichever wheel one chooses is up to one’s choice but honestly the EUC is way more practical for what I want of a PEV.

Could't agree more! The differences are very well stated in this vid! I'm a skater and connect to the OW in that way, but I would love more range and speed for exploring new cites!

Love my EUCs and won't even think about a OW until FutureMotion addresses/resolves the issue of nosedive. You say it isn't a big deal, but it is.

I love snowboarding and I have tried the onewheel for a couple of days. I was super comfortable on it and I love the feeling. The one thing that gets me is the range and speed. I really dont know which one tho get, euc or onewheel?

They are both fantastic! Sold my XR but would seriously consider buying another OW if they release a more powerful version.
