My Last Poem

Probably I haven't seen further than anyone else, but I was the one deciding where to look and I didn't stand on the shoulders of anyone.

I promise that one day I will understand myself

We boarded a train and I was stressed as usual
I was distracted by a stranger's conversation before hearing your question
If you could relive your life what would you do differently?

People on their deathbeds say they wouldn't change a thing
But I think I would change everything,
like a kid trying the limits of a game

I immediately started thinking about my poems
I think this is the only timeline that I write poetry
I think this is the only timeline that we meet

However, I would miss a few things

My leg shaking
And losing track of time
Taking train rides and conversations like this

If I could hold on to a memory from this place
It would be me not being able to keep eye contact while watching my work

I always wanted to go to places that I wasn't supposed to
And when I arrived I departed for something new

The odyssey of my life could be more than an oscillation
If I remember to enjoy the moments in-between
The moments I try to escape from the inertia of who I'm supposed to be

Realizing the meaning of life is an empty question
Filled solely with my decisions
The anxiety of choice and freedom at the crossroads of my journey

The beauty of living isn't hiding in the places we are trying to reach
It's the moments of stillness that we choose who we want to be

I'm officially an engineer, and also I'm conscripted into the Greek military.

That's a lot to process, I know.

About my degree:
Many of you know that I was studying engineering while creating my videos. That journey reached its destination and I got my degree. (Yay)

About my military duty:
In this part of the world "Greece" all men of age are constitutionally obliged to serve in the Hellenic Armed forces. So I will be busy with "other" affairs for a while.

About the future of the channel:
The title of my recent video "My Last Poem" isn't entirely clickbait. While enlisted, I won't have much time or energy to do creative work here. But this is not the end, I plan to create some videos of poems I admire on my second channel @akidwithacamera. And sooner than later I will return to my original work here.

I will be less active for sure but I will stay on social media, my community page (here), and Discord. If you miss me watch a video or message me. They won't go away and I won't go away as well

Reading the title made me kinda sad. I remember watching your videoon the poem "the morning after i killed myself" a year and a half ago and lying down with tears in my eyes. I had this inexplainable feeling in my chest. I have found myself going back to that video so so so many times since and finding that much needed comfort. I also listened to your other poems and videos and just fell in love with your work. In a way, these poems gave me life. They have this... beauty, to them. If this really is your last poem, then I'll smile knowing that I got to be a part of such a beautiful journey. Thank you so much for everything.

Just lost my job. The one that felt like my "dream job" and i initially was so devastated that i considered drinking again and even self injury.

I like that. I like that a lot. Poems take a lot of creative process, and you did wonderfully. Sometimes we do need breaks; even if its from ourselves. Because life is a journey we are on, and sometimes its to find ourselves that we needed a break from. Thank you for your poetry.
