Physics does not tell u who put the sun there and who created gravity. It only explains how it works.

I think when people fell away from God. Their human instinct kicked in, and they needed something to worship. That's when the false gods came along. This is just my teenage opinion.

God(s) aren't just to explain "how the world works". They are mainly to find a purpose in human experience. Science is an execellent tool, but just a tool. As Victor Frankl put it, we nead meaning and purpose to live .

Good point. In fact, in The arts, the poetry, philosophy and deep thoughts, and even architecture, we have not improved upon, at all. Thanks for your posts.

This is profound. I’d love to see an extended discussion on this topic! Art and poetry today (see… pop music and lyrics) are an absolute disaster.

We’ve simply reverted to the old heathen “gods” (idols) of wealth, pleasure, power, fame, glory, tribal identity, etc. The notion that prior generations might be wiser than us is a heresy in our new-old religion

The short answer is No. Even when people give up traditional faith they create new things to worship.

This is an excellent answer to that modern (and yes, condescending) question posed by some who have stopped searching for the better way.

Alot of discoveries were made through religious people too.

"We don't know why it happened" is still a thing many scientists will say today.

If someone rises from the dead, Can they say they knew what happened?

Our art is most definitely as good as it’s ever been. Just look at the experimentation we’re seeing in black metal for example or arthouse cinema. Wow it’s good.

The people before us saw Gods work in action.

Being able to explain something in way we understand it doesn't remove the miracle of it's existence and being.

As an atheist, I kinda conceptualize "god" as the things that can't be known - what has existed but left no trace? - what happens after death? - what's going to happen in the future?
They're all interesting questions and having some answers might alleviate some anxieties I have, but the answer, "god, " is ultimately inconsequential to how I live my life.
When nothing you do matters, all that matters is what you do.

When someone has doubts, it is a good thing. There is hope. I don't think trying to convince them is a good strategy, they tend to dig in deeper. I usually just nod and smile and say "I have been changed. It worked for me."

Usually quite critical of yourself, but solid answer here, good work👍

No, its not possible. They might have known more than we think they did, but not more than us (with few exceptions like Roman concrete, but even then, they didnt understand why it works).

What they did better is _apprecitate_ the things they had. Every day is a gift from God if the black plague is knocking on your door.

Last night I was listening to some bible lore and fell down the rabbit hole and found myself learning about demons from the Lesser Key of Solomon’s grimoire. 💀

When I was 8, my parents bought an illustrated book about ancient Greece. In it, I came across beautiful pictures of the ancient Greek gods, and was fascinated by them. But I remember wondering why there were so many of them, for so many different things, when there was already the One God who had created the whole world and everything in it? Then I realised that these gods stood only for parts of Creation, so they were clearly not in the same league as God, perhaps more something like “guardian angels” for the things they represented. How come those so-called ‘rational’ atheists never seem to reflect or notice this difference?
