Religion is the number one thing that needs to go if we are ever to evolve into better human beings.

“Held hostage by Iron Age literature” that’s an excellent way to explain it.

I was a Christian for over 50 years and gradually lost my faith past age 50. Embracing science, reason, and rationality has been a wonderful, mind opening experience. Sam Harris presents these facts so clearly and has been immensely helpful to me in my thinking. The power and persistence of religion is frightening.

“There’s a liability in pretending to know things that we don’t know.” VERY TRUE AND WELL STATED!

If a person needs religion to understand right from wrong, it's not religion they lack, it's empathy!!!

It's a true saying that in the age of information, ignorance is a choice.

My life was so much better after I escaped the chains of religion

Doubt is the beginning of wisdom.
Faith feeds ignorance.

I was 12 years old, when I dropped the idea of God and religion. I'm 37 years old now, and I still hold that point view. People like Sam, Dawkins and Hitchens, articulated the thoughts I was already holding. We don't need religion to determine morality.

Sam Harris is a great presenter. Completely clear. The number of people in the world who think religion is legitimate is terrifying, and I hope Sam and others with the same common sense and intelligence keep speaking publicly.

It’s mind blowing how someone can defend something like removing the eye balls from every third child because a religious book said it. That’s when you know someone is not grappling with reality and trying to defend the point of, “if an Iron Age book says it, it can’t be immoral” as a way to defend religion in itself smh.

I think it was Richard Dawkins that once said "that one of the greatest problems with religious belief is the amount of self deception need for something so obviously wrong and that what else are they fooling themselves over". Which is a very good question and especially relevant in today's time.

I could listen to Sam speak all day long. His logic is sound in this. Religion always gets a pass, and you cannot dare criticize it. Our humanity needs to move past this. I wish I would have done this in 1992, when I was 21 years old. But that’s how powerful the dogma is when you’ve been conditioned your whole life to believe that you’re going to either get the ultimate paradise or the ultimate punishment. Life is harsh. The truth can be difficult, but I’d rather have it that way than continue living a huge lie that I was conned into believing.

We can not say "THANK YOU" enough to people like Sam Harris! So much ignorance everywhere!

I love the blatant observation that _everyone_ alive today has access to incomparably more information than _anyone_ alive at _any_ time in the Bible. That alone speaks volumes!

It always amazes me its 2022 almost moving on to 2023 and people still believe imaginary friends and imaginary enemies. Let that sink in. When will humanity grow up?!

The incident Sam Harris recounted about his debate with the neuroscientist who said that no religious practice can be criticised, and that any act, no matter how harmful, is acceptable if it is done for religious reasons, is utterly chilling. She would have to say that the horrors perpetrated by the Inquisition and the mass killing of Jews and Muslims by crusaders would be out of bounds as targets of our indignation and condemnation for this reason, although I can't help having an uncomfortable feeling that she might resort to the casuistry of saying that those acts were motivated not by religion, but rather by politics, greed or personal hatreds, and put aside the fact that even were that true, it was religion that lent those acts a hideous kind of acceptability. It's very hard not to feel utterly hopeless in the face of the fact that not only do religions allow good people to do bad things, but they also con good non-religious people into complicity with them.
