Star Trek Beyond: New Warp Effect

Short but awesome; the brand-spanking-new warp FX from Star Trek Beyond. The first time we've ever seen the warp bubble and the bending and warping of spacetime as the Enterprise travels faster than light.

Gorgeous new effects, I hope the next film has more shots!

This is one of the reasons why Star Trek Beyond is my favorite of the reboot. First movie that shows how a warp bubble should look like

I think that is an accurate representation of what a real warp effect would look like.

what i like about this scene is it makes sense of a line from Into Darkness where Carol Marcus mentions that the Vengeance had advanced warp capability that allowed it to catch up to ships travelling at warp.

not only did it have to be able to reach higher warp speeds but also it needed to be able to intersect the warp "bubble" of the ship it was chasing, which as shown by this scene means cutting through a whole lot of turbulence from the ship infront. i like scenes that make me thing about how such technology would work.

I have to say I loved the visual effects in this movie, *especially* this.

I suddenly realised that this probrably is not only the warp bubble effect, but also the deflector cone doing its work of deflecting all kind of space debris, pushing it out of the way while the Enterprise moves at lightspeed. This was the original purpose of the deflector dish, as mentioned in an DS9 making video. Of course the effect is still amazing anyway!

So, this was cool. Hearing about warp fields was one thing, but we never really saw it (from what I've seen) in the shows and previous movies. My eyes widened and jaw dropped a bit seeing this. Such a cool depiction of a warp field, and sort of how I imagined them to look.

I guess Interstellar made scientifically accurate effects cool

God, the sound design for this is absolutely killer. Incredibly well-done effect all-around, shame this is the only time it's seen.

I think this is an accurate description of a real warp bubble if we ever invent the warp drive.

I’d imagine how cool this would look like for the other Enterprise ships.

I'm probably one of the few people who really appreciates this vessel and her crew. I really wished they could do a tv series based in the five year mission of this vessel before it was destroyed but I know that will never happen. Don't get me wrong I love the prime timeline and hope to get tv series in it for the rest of time. But I really enjoy this alternate take on the franchise with it's more realistic overtones. Sure the Enterprise is really flawed, but I accept those flaws. I just hope that star trek 4 with enterprise a will be good and they don't do some kind of "fix the timeline" kind of film. I think the kelvin timeline and prime timeline can co exist perfectly fine. Prime timeline should not have kelvin elements present it just screws with an already broken timeline.

I’m glad they went with this effect... especially since the previous two movies had basically been using the Star Wars effect. (Ugh, we get it Abrams... you’re a SW fan, not a ST fan...)

By far one of the most beautiful warp speed travel looks and probably the definitive type in my book considering how it is a bubble

Oh look, warp doesn't look like a ripoff of hyperspace anymore. Thanks, Beyond. Maybe some actual Trek fans were part of this one's production, there was a sense someone actually cared about the universe.

I feel like this is what a warp drive would really look like outside the warp bubble. It would be a dream to see this within my lifetime.

I like how every movie has a different effect. if they got progressively better, what's next after this amazing effect
