How I Make MASALA CHAI for My Mother-in-Law Recipe ☕

This the easiest and tastiest Masala Chai recipe EVER! I learnt it from the Chaiwallas on the streets of India. Now I make it every day for my Indian mother-in-law and me. I'll also tell you what makes the perfect Indian milk tea and show you how Sudhama Chaiwala in Delhi's North Campus makes his chai on the street.

Ingredients (Serves: 2)
2 cups full cream or single toned milk. Buffalo is tastiest for chai.
1.5 tablespoons of supermarket quality black tea (Tata Gold Tea or Taj Mahal Tea are popular).
2 tablespoons of sugar.
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder.

1. Dump all ingredients into a pot on a medium flame and bring to the boil.
2. Bring to the boil so the liquid starts climbing up the pan, then turn down the heat and let simmer. 3. Do this 3 times. The colour should be nice and brown now.
4. Strain into teacups and enjoy!

your mother in law is lucky to have son in law like you. The tip you gave is really needed because even my mom like clean kitchen. One tip I would give you is always press the chai patti after putting tea in cup to get the excess tea out from the tea leaves. Thats a middle class way of having tea.

I'd been making India tea wrong this whole decade! I used everything you said but included water (learned from a South Indian housemate). Thank you so so so much for sharing the secret of using 100% milk. I just made my best tea ever!

I think that is my first YouTube comment ever. I returned to my home country Germany 15 years ago and since then I tried each and every chai recipe to make a cup of chai that comes at least close to a real chaiwala chai. I was sure it's impossible because our milk is different, never got more than 50% of the real taste. But today it was 98%! So happy!!!
