In this video, we’re going to talk about the best apple cider vinegar.

What makes the ideal apple cider vinegar? What criteria should you look for in high-quality apple cider vinegar? Take a look.

Here are the criteria for a quality apple cider vinegar:

1. Organic - Apples are a part of the dirty dozen, which are the foods with the most exposure to pesticides. Make sure the apple cider vinegar is made from 100% organic apples.

2. Unpasteurized/raw - Heat can destroy many of the helpful enzymes in apple cider vinegar. You want the enzymes to be active to help support healthy digestion.

3. Mother - Mother is the sediment in apple cider vinegar that contains beneficial probiotics. Make sure this is not removed from the ACV.

4. Unfiltered/not distilled- Distilled vinegar, like white vinegar, are refined products. Avoid any filtered, distilled, or refined kinds of vinegar. You want all of the natural benefits to be included in your apple cider vinegar.

5. Undiluted - Some companies may dilute apple cider vinegar with water or other kinds of vinegar. Avoid any ACV that is not 100% apple cider vinegar.

6. Made from whole apples - Make sure the vinegar you use is not made out of only the core or skin of the apple. You need the whole apple for all of the beneficial properties.

I used to primarily use Bragg apple cider vinegar. However, there’s another brand that I started using that may be even better. This is Fairchild’s apple cider vinegar by Golden Valley Vinegar. Bragg vinegar is 25% less potent than Fairchild’s ACV.

I make a Radish, Cucumber, Cilantro, Bubbies Sauerkraut and Apple Ceder Vinegar salad every morning. I have this with my 4 oz's of Organic beef, 2 strips of all natural bacon with no sugar and an Omelette loaded with many veggies, spices and many other goodies.

The ideal ACV is home made from local produce. But, around here, apples are a baby food company crop, and coated in gunk. So I just bought a quart of that Fairchild stuff for $8. And, yeah, that Bragg's is expensive, and diluted. Thank you for the information.

Great video, Dr. Berg! I've recently begun consuming ACV for acid reflux and just ordered some Fairchild, per your suggestion. I'm curious, though, if ACV in capsule form might be a good option. Do you have any information about how ACV pills compare to the liquid? I'm sure it would be a bit more expensive but I do worry about the enamel erosion from drinking ACV. Thanks!

I tried Braggs and finally gave up because the smell alone, even diluted and mixed with fresh lemon juice, made me want to heave. However, I then discovered Natural Umber which is the complete opposite and I now enjoy it. If you’re in the U.K. give it a try - you won’t regret it. As well as being organic and with the mother it also comes in dark glass bottles and tastes more like a sweet cider.
