Is every "Movie-Movie" an absolute stinker? Well this one is...kind of better. Nostalgia Critic takes a look at Superhero Movie.

Superhero Movie is a 2008 American superhero parody film written and directed by Craig Mazin, produced by Robert K. Weiss and David Zucker, and starring Drake Bell, Sara Paxton, Christopher McDonald, and Leslie Nielsen. It was originally titled Superhero! as a nod to one of the Zuckers's previous films, Airplane! (1980), in which Nielsen also starred. A spoof of the superhero film genre, primarily Sam Raimi's Spider-Man (2002) and Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins (2005), as well as other lampooned cameos of mid-2000s Marvel film adaptations from 20th Century Fox such as Fantastic 4 (2005) and X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), the film follows in the footsteps of the Scary Movie series of comedies (2000–2013), with which the film's poster shares a resemblance. It was also inspired by, and contains homages to some of Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker's earlier spoof films such as Airplane! and The Naked Gun (1988–1994).

It's a fair assessment, but there's one thing I can't agree with. Leslie Nielsen saying "don't forget the bitches" is GOLD

Fun fact: Here in Brazil, Superhero Movie was kinda of a hit. So, when Disaster Movie came out, the marketing team for the movie changed the the title to Superhero Movie 2: The Injustice League. A lot of people (me and my older sister included) went to movies thinking that we're going to see the sequel to that funny movie with the actor from Drake and Josh.
Instead, we got...Disaster Movie...

There are a few things I will give credit to this movie for:

1:It actually had a story and wasn’t just references

2:There were actually a few laughs in this one

3:It felt like it was at least TRYING!

Fun Fact: Drake Bell's character is mostly based on Spider-Man. A few years after this movie he voiced Spider-Man in the TV series Ultimate Spider-Man and shares the same birthday as Tobey Maguire, the original Spider-Man.

I grew up with both Scary Movie and this one. Those were the " My Mom didnt know what they were when she bought them and later we were forbidden to watch, but me and my siblings watched it on my sisters laptop with a DVD tray built in after she (Mom) went to sleep(yes it was THAT old)"
