It's one of the biggest blockbusters of all time! Does it hold up after all the hype?

I completely agree with Doug. The Avengers isn't supposed to have a deep or complex story. It's just meant to be a tonne of fun!

This is why I think characters are the most important part of a story. Even if the plot isn't great, characters we love will help us enjoy it.

EASILY cinematic history

Remember when everyone was moaning and groaning over the fact that Disney bought out Marvel?
Remember how they all thought it was gonna be disnefied on the silver screen?
Probably one of the best decisions the company has ever made, since the avengers made SO much money and everyone in the world knows of it, and enjoyed it.

"I'm Always angry." (Turns away, Hulks out.) I loved that delivery.

Marvel's _The Avengers_ is a legitimately *Great* film.

Like Peter Jackson's _Lord of The Rings_, it's a game changer. It affects Hollywood _years_ after its release, maybe even change cinema forever. _The Avengers_ was an *event*, even moreso than James Cameron's _Avatar_ ever was, due to how _unique_ of a film it was.

I think the reason Ruffalo is great to me is that he plays Banner as a gentle awkward guy. It makes his conflict and frustration mor recognised.

I though Mark Ruffalo was a much better Bruce Banner, because he was just so likable and charming. Maybe it's because he had a better script, but with him I really felt the Jekyll/Hyde-iness of his personality, the calm, soothing Zen master with the demon struggling just beneath the surface, and it came out to make a much more interesting, responsive, and relatable character than Norton's.

My fav part is the ending. You expect to see the Avengers fight Loki himself. Then (*SPOILER ALERT*) BOOM! Hulk comes in and crushes him.

"If we just started off with this movie before all the other films it wouldn't have been as good. It would have been impressive but it would have been too jumbled because you don't have all the characters defined." Very true could you imagine if someone else decided to make a movie featuring all their superheroes with out properly introducing them first? That sure would be stupid and terrible.

I just want to point out that Hawkeye did have a cameo in Thor.

This is the perfect definition of what I call a "toybox movie" it's just the cinematic equivalent of a little kid smashing his action figures together over and over, and that's awesome!

to me the story was supposed to be simple. It needs to set up the big players and it works.

I'm from the Stuttgart area, and watching it here in the theaters was absolutely priceless.

People love to praise the Dark Knight as the comic book movie but to me, it was the Avengers. The Avengers knows what it is, it doesn't try to be anything else and embraces it's history and where it comes from. It doesn't spend half the movie explaining what's going on or philosophies, it's just about the Avengers. I'm not saying the Dark Knight is bad but I will say this movie is the comic book movie I always wanted.

I'm a simple person....in a sense. I see a crossover, I get hyped, I watch it. Who would've thought that one day a crossover would not only be one the highest grossing films of all time, but also set a standard for future cinematic universes to take place? All I have to say is, "Thank you Marvel for bringing us The Avengers."

At first I preferred Norton to Ruffalo too but after going back and rewatching both The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers I noticed how Ruffalo kind of felt like a "nerdier" guy which works a lot more for the Hulk/Banner dynamic for me.

This is the first Marvel movie I saw and I waited so long to see it that I had to go to the next city. I was fucking blown away.

I'm honestly became more of a Marvel fanboy than a DC fanboy because of its engaging stories, relatable characters and a universe that dedicates it material to its loyal fan base. Don't get me wrong, DC is great aside with just Batman and Superman in terms of defining moments in comics and their animated movies, but Marvel has an edge in making their heroes likable, their villains have sensible motivations, and overall tie them all in together like they did with The Avengers. Look forward to Civil War more than Batman v Superman since that trailer got me disappointed with Doug's point of introducing the characters immediately without any development.

I remember feeling so satisfied by this movie after investing my time in the previous movies in the MCU starting with Iron Man, because you really did connect with each hero and what they were fighting for, definitely changed comic book movies for the better IMO.
