How to Make a Buttonhole By Hand

To follow my earlier tutorial showing how to add buttons, I thought it would be appropriate to do one on how to make a buttonhole by hand. It's pretty simple, and will protect your button holes from fraying.

MATERIALS USED:
Needle and thread
Scissors or x-acto knife

*** The materials listed above are the products I actually used for this project. I find that people often want to know exactly what I use, so I've started including exact links when I can find them. However, it's simply meant as a guide and you can substitute with whatever comparable brands/products you might have available in your own area. Also some of the links may be affiliate links, which means I may receive a small commission from the company if a sale is made. It doesn't cost you any extra; it's just a simple way to help support my work on this channel. (I just figured, hey, as long as I was posting the links anyway, I might as well make them affiliate links)

Concise and well explained, good job! There are a lot of tutorials for buttonholes out there that go on for half an hour - for me as a beginner, this here was straight to the point and sufficient to do the job well. Thank you very much!

Perfect. I messed up a machine buttonhole and I am trying to repair it. This makes sense to me. Thank you very much!

I was a Theater Major and a sewing class was required in college. I did so poorly and had to repeat every lesson more than once. But after watching your video, I was able to get it right on my first try! Thank you so much!!

You my kind and skilled woman did an excellent job both on explaining and showing the proper steps.

Your video is a treasure among many trashy ones that go on and on and on only to result on sewing machine at the end.

So simple and easy, thank you. I'm doing this because the machine is not working for me with the material I'm using on a couple projects.
