Anakin getting a seat to start with was a power move by Palps; not a true choice by the council

This video made me realize how the council during the clone wars was even pettier and worse then I thought
Because I bet you Obi Wan, Yoda, and Plo Koon to name a few were most likely willing to give Anakin the rank of master meanwhile it was Jedi like Windu and Ki Adi Mundi who would probably refuse

I like to imagine that the vote to grant Anakin the rank of master went the same way as the vote to expell Ahsoka, just in reverse. Yoda, Obi-Wan and Plo Koon voting against the expulsion and for the master rank, while the others did the opposite.

And they gave him the rank because his trial was defeating a sith

I watch just about everything you put out, and I found this to be just as entertaining and informative as the so called "fact based" videos. I think at this point, you have earned and reached the rank of Master, and your teachings and musings are of great quality as you have put countless hours into knowing what you're talking about to be able to form those opinions for a video like this one. I would enjoy more videos in this vein in addition to your regularly scheduled broadcasts. Great work as always, thank you for your contributions to my entertainment and continuing sanity.

Wow, that's amazing how you're able to tie in the ret-con stuff with Ahsoka into the movies as skilled as you did. Overall, you created an essay which highlighted points 1. I'd forgotten, 2. Wasn't aware, 3. effectively tie-in ret-con, 4. include points I didn't know. Great job!

The more lore I learn the more Obi-Wan is becoming my favorite 👀 as for Anakin it’s a tough call. I don’t think he was ready to be master yet, but he did technically earn it I believe. He was young yes, had much to learn still, and was still highly impatient/arrogant (partially because of the council). I think had he turned in the chancellor or killed him, master would’ve been attained quickly.

My thoughts?

100% agreement. I'm glad you made a video about this, I mean, I've even debated with people about this exact issue on comments in some of your videos.

How could they do this? It's unfair. How could someone be on the council and not be a master. This is insulting

I feel like after watching Clone Wars and seeing what happens with Ahsoka and how the council treated her. It really made it easier to understand why Anakin fell as quickly and as violently as he did. If you just watch the movies it feels like it was all Palpatine and his manipulations when really you can almost understand why Anakin might hate the Jedi as deeply as he did. He blamed them for Padme also. But it was the Clone Wars that really showed me what was behind him going to the dark side like he did.

While there were some good points, I have to admit that Anakin was pretty arrogant in Revenge of the Sith. I wasn't able to catch the Clone Wars series, I may have a different opinion based on that, but Anakin's arrogance does make me feel like he didn't yet deserve to be a Master. Add to the fact that Palpatine did push him into the master seat... which reeks of nepotism, probably not just to alienate the Council, but as part of his master plan to turn Anakin to the dark side by giving him paranoia and "proving" that the Council was biased against Skywalker. It doesn't help that the council did have a bias against him due to his arrogance and the fact that an outside politician pushed for him to become a master. I am curious - how many politicians recommended someone for a master position on the Jedi Council? Is there precedent for it?

I don’t think that Obi-Wan was an undeserving person candidate for master, even if the accolades weren’t quite there at the time of his promotion, but Anakin was clearly deserving of the title if Obi-Wan was. The thing that stands out to me most was that Anakin never got the chance to fully become anything, finish anything he started, and it was always someone else’s choice that stopped him

The grand republic was so powerful yet so weak. Crazy how they were so clouded in their judgment with no Sith around in a thousand years.

Obi Wan embodies what it means to be a Jedi. He is such a fantastic representative for the order and is what all Jedi should strive to be.

Let’s be real here. Anything or anyone that didn’t agree with the Jedi Council and their arrogance in knowing the Will of the Force were often passed over. Dooku chose to serve the people over the Senate and was passed over the seat on the Council that Mace Windu took as a result. Qui-Gon battled with the Council so many times and was practically sentenced to die on Naboo because of the Council’s blatant dismissal and lack of Jedi reinforcements to dispatch Maul. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, was also aligned with how the Council operates. The way he mentored Anakin and the way he argued against Qui-Gon shows for it. He was, in every sense, a perfect pawn for the Jedi Council so that’s why he was promoted to Master AND given a seat on the Council. Anakin was much like Dooku and Qui-Gon in wanting to do what was right, but was constantly belittled and denied because of being opposed to how the Council operates. The Council doesn’t like that so, as punishment, they condemn and expel Ahsoka to prevent him from having the reason to be promoted to Master. Also, they further punished him by reluctantly giving him a seat but denying him the rank of Master. Each and EVERY ONE of Anakin’s recognition and acknowledgment was all due to the Council RELENTING. They had absolutely NO intention of admitting Anakin as a Jedi, let alone promoting him to where he was as a Jedi. That’s why it’s no surprise that Obi-Wan gets the full glory of a Master and Council Member and not Anakin because of how the Council operates which resulted in the Order’s ultimate demise by Anakin, himself.
