Fixing LG TV that has a blue tint (4 things to try)

If your LG tv screen has gone blue, or has a blue tint, there are a few easy things to check before going out and getting a new one.

1. Unplug the tv from the wall for 60 seconds and plug it back in. Simple, I know, but this gives the tv time to reset and a lot of the time will fix the blue tint.

2. Check all of your cables. Move ports. Replace any bad cables.

3. Factory reset

4. Adjust picture settings

If none of these worked, it may be the backlight. If that's the case, you might be better off replacing the tv instead of repairing.

My LG is about 4-5 years old and is showing the blue tint. Unfortunately I have found out that LG uses sub-standard LED strips in their tv's and over time will turn blue because a coating on the bulbs will wear off. The only permanent fix is to replace the LED strips with a new aftermarket set NOT made by Vestel (which is LG's supplier). Sets can be purchased on Ebay pretty cheap but you have to take the tv apart to replace them which is a real pain. There are quite a few videos on YouTube show how to do this.

My dad's LG has that blue problem and is about 7 years old. My Samsung is 8 years old, on all the time, and not having any of these LED issues

Hey, thanks for the video this looks great and I will try as many steps as I can. I am in a very peculiar situation and many you could help me. I recently moved and when I was using my tv I never had a physical remote I used an app on my phone. When I moved to my new place it was also a new Wi-fi network my tv now is not connected to Wi-Fi and cannot be controlled by my app. I bought a universal smart remote and this also did not connect to my LG tv. I have a bad blue light issues wondering if you have any ideas how I can get this tv on Wi-fi so I can get into the settings menu thanks!!
