The child doesn't even know if the microwave works because there's nothing to put in it? That alone is enough for CPS to be called. Unforgivable!

My heart goes out to Melissa. Lost her father, and has to watch her distressed mother hoard. Her tears touched me. She deserves to grow up in a clean home, to have friends over and to not have to worry about her mom.

This is straight up child neglect. I don't think her mom has accepted the seriousness of her actions. The sister did the right thing, sooner would have been better but she should never feel bad for not acting sooner to fix someone else's problem.

Thank god her sister has the balls and backbone to do the awful job of potentially ruining her sisters life to save her nieces future. Hoarding destroys the entire family, it doesn’t just harm the hoarder. If you add up all the hurt and pain the family definitely suffer more.

Honestly the aunt deserves to take the daughter. She seems to care so much more about her than her own mother

There's a hoarder in my family, by marriage.
It DOES affect the whole family. They live near me, but I don't see them often, because of their house. They're trying to work on it, I guess, but there was never a single place to sit that wasn't buried. It makes me incredibly anxious to even be in there, after I spent a week house-sitting for them. The second night, i brought a box- I needed a place to put keys, phone, etc, because I was afraid if I lost track of them, I would never find them again.

I am so happy that Melissa has a great aunt who can advocate for her future, safety, and health.

I like the psychiatrist guy. He’s not too soft like most, he doesn’t give up straight away and he’s not too hard that he causes problems. He pinpoints the issue, brings it forward for everybody to confront and discuss, make them name and explain it then how to move forward. It’s all about upkeep now, that’s really the hard work.

This is one of the first episodes of Hoarders I saw, and the quote stuck with me “You have STORAGE UNITS in TWO DIFFERENT STATES!”

My mom was a hoarder. I’m 50 and still affected. I’m socially awkward and still lack many life skills. Thankfully, I have a wonderful fiancé who understands.

If something happened to my children's father, I would try to make their home as comfortable and cozy as possible. Unbelievable.

Was wondering why she was so CALM.. makes sense when she knows in the back of her head she still has a “treasure trove” in storage ! It’s amazing how powerful the brain can be. Imagine if we could program our brains to have this level of obsession about good things ! ..guess it’s the human condition 🤷‍♂️

It’s bliss to know some siblings out there actually care!

Kathleen is one of the few participants in this program that I can muster sympathy for. Resistant? Sure. A complete jackass over rotten food or trash? No. Attacking or blaming the very people that are helping her? No.

Good for Paula to stand up for her niece! That poor girl shouldn't be living like that!

The episodes that anger me the most are those where the hoarder has children and they're suffering terrible abuse by the hoarder. It infuriates me how surprised they look when confronted with the emotional damage they're causing to their children. And even then they refuse to let go of the toxic garbage.

Just cleaned out my pantry and cleaned out my fridge and YouTube suggests this for me within 10 minutes.

I'm so happy that Mellissa was able to do her school work in a clean environment. I must also say that I take my hat off to the cleaners that have to deal with the smell and dirt.

This is best thing they have ever done with these shows. They cut out all the flash back and only show the scenes once.

Hoarders don't let their kids clean their own rooms. Trust me. We have Hoarders in my family who stop the kids from giving things away or throwing
stuff out. Tina, Al's wife
