I've heard industrial engineers get to do less math but have to do more spreadsheets, and this makes the discipline the runt of the engineering litter. Is that true?

if your company produces 10 million units a year then a 2% improvement is 200, 000 more units.
if your company spends 100 million dollars a year on maintenance then a 2% cost reduction is 2 million dollars.

I’m an IE undergrad, and the Six Sigma Greenbelt is so true😂. I’m also a greenbelt and recently interned at Gore and they threw me in the quality assurance team and wanted me to figure out a signaling system for one of their new processes, and I just nodded and walked with confidence even though I had no idea what I was going to do

For the people that say Industrial Engineers don’t know much math and physics(or engineering related topics in general). At my university we take calc 1, 2, 3, 4, university physics 1, 2. Thermodynamics, statics, Advanced computer aided design and manufacturing, circuits 1, materials processing, materials science, simulations and much more. So it’s definitely a fully fledged engineering degree!

I chose IE.. it has Mechanical + Management related courses you can go either manufacturing side (most of IEs wont) or management supply chain logistics finance Human Resource Side. So We can say its a good branch of Engg if you have interest in factorio

I am an undergraduate Industrial Engineering student with a speciality in Market Finance and Financial Engineering. I can say that the degree totally worth it since i'll have the ability to work both in Manufacturing/Consulting and Banking and Financial institutions fields.
