I think because at the start of his backstory there are two soldiers who mention Kakarot's name in front of him, and then he gets stabbed, that's why Broly only remembers Kakarot's name and connects it with what happened to him

I actually like how just the sight of Goku is enough to set Broly off into a wild rampage. It shows that he’s a force of nature that can’t be reasoned with.

Kinda like what Android 16 tells Gohan about Cell, how there are those that words alone will not reach.

It's not actually the crying that sets Broly off. In fact, Broly doesn't even remember any of it until Goku defeats him at the end. What actually angers Broly about Goku is his indomitable fighting spirit as he views it as a challenge.

He's meant to be the Ying to Goku's Yang, 2 Legendary Super Saiyans that are the complete opposite of each other destined to fight. He was never meant to be a deep character, but he had enough to him to make him a great DBZ movie character. I always liked the added lore that the first movie added to the franchise.

To me Kakarot's crying is a PTSD trigger for Broly as Kakarot despite being a weakling with only a Power Level of 2 was able to make Broly himself cry despite Broly having a way higher power level! Also the execution happened on the same day (though King Vegeta only ordered the execution on Broly, though he did try to execute Paragus for challenging his decision with his aptly names Execution Beam) with Broly associating the trauma with Kakarot who is basically a PTSD trigger for him! Not to mention Goku has had a decent life on Earth because of his weakness (as in the OG Broly trilogy Kakarot was officially sent to Earth by the Saiyan Army, rather than his parents in the current canon) while Broly suffered for his incredible might! Saiyans don't need much of a reason to fight given they are a warrior race and Broly was pretty much driven insane by his childhood trauma so he focuses on Kakarot/Goku)!

Z Broly story is deep if you understand the saiyan’s race nature and the legendary super saiyan power. Harsh past, ptsd, split personality disorder, and Lssj is what created Z Broly.

Z Broly has PTSD from his past and split personality disorder due to the power of being LSSJ. Saiyan babies have great memory that they are sent to other planets to conquer. Broly hates Goku because he reminds him of the day of being stabbed. He remembers Goku ki and hearing the name Kakarot as baby. When he first met Goku again as an adult, he sensed his ki triggering his ptsd reminding him of that day. Goku is the link to the pain he felt as a baby. Its not that Broly blames Goku for what happened but Goku triggers the psychological trauma of the incident causing him to relive the experience of being stabbed in the chest as a baby. So how does Broly get rid of that pain?

By getting rid of Goku.

Broly split personality was affected by his past and LSSJ power. LSSJ power is more unique than the regular SSJ. Lssj is constantly overflowing with power that it is much more harder to control. When Goku went ssj1 for the first time he told Gohan to leave since he almost lost it with rage. When saiyans ascend to ssj1 and above their power increases as well as their aggressive savage saiyan nature increases for example ssj3 Goku and Gohan ssj2 they were more serious and willing to kill. Goku had his saiyan nature changed from hitting his head as a baby and Gohan is better raised by Goku and is half human. So imagine being a natural born saiyan with Lssj power who had a harsh past of being stabbed as a baby and raised as a weapon by your dad. Base Broly was more shy and docile until his power takes over making him lose control which is why Paragus put the headpiece on him to control his powers and to prevent his other personality from coming out

Those two Frieza Force Scientists even joke about it - that Goku's crying is tormenting Broly. They (and I'm sure others) also mentioned Goku's Saiyan name of Kakarot. Also, Goku's "crib" was *right* next to Broly's, so he probably saw Goku. So Broly recognizes/connects Goku's face and name(Kakarot) to the crying.

If being stabbed by King Vegeta was what was truly Broly's most traumatic memory - what affected him so much, then Broly would've went off as soon as he saw Vegeta - whom looks *just* like his Father.

I don't know about this. There were two different flashbacks which showed that Goku's constant crying bothered Broly a lot when they were together in the nursery. And in one of the scenes, two unnamed Saiyans briefly discussed the differences between Goku and Broly; How Broly was the stronger of the two, while Goku was the one who showed a true Saiyan spirit. I think the point here was that Broly always had a weak and fragile psyche, despite his immense power and seemingly limitless potential.

Given the fact that goku's face and saiyan name it's what triggers broly i would say that it mean that he hate him for crying and no for the trauma, that's what it looks that the writer intended.
