Do you have a lesson about positioning of the fretting hand on an acoustic guitar? I hesitate to practice and develop muscle memory for the wrong techniques. Youtube has numerous, often conflicting, videos...thumb behind the neck towards the midline....or towards the upper side of the back....never over the top! Thumb should be pointed perpendicular (toward the ceiling) to the neck....not sideways....some don't mention that. Bottom of the neck should be parallel to palm at the finger joint....but with a space so palm isn't touching. Wrist must be straight (I've even experimented using a stiff wrist brace!). Fingers should arch effortlessly over the neck and line up perfectly with assigned frets, reaching across to all strings....of course, without the wrist bending or the palm touching the neck. HELP!
