In this episode, we take a look at the Victron multiplus II inverter which is rated at a capacity of 3000 VA. This is an off grid inverter that can do charging and have an automatic transfer switch. We also look at connecting it to the servo GX and the touch 50 screen all powered by the EG4 indoor wall mount battery. This system is a solid reliable system that I would recommend for anyone getting started with solar because of the reliability of these components

Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000 Inverter
The MultiPlus-II has all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current transformer option to implement PowerControl and PowerAssist and to optimize self-consumption with external current sensing. It also features built-in anti-islanding and an increasingly long list of country approvals.
Features
Unique PowerAssist - Prevents overload of a limited AC source.
First, battery charging automatically reduces.
Second, shore side supply will be boosted with power taken from the battery.
Energy Storage System
Combine with MPPT Solar Chargers or Grid-tie PV Inverters.
UPS Function
Automatically takes over in the event of a grid failure in less than 20milliseconds.
Remote Monitoring and Control
Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC for multiple operating systems.

Victron Energy Cerbo GX
The Cerbo GX is Victron's newest communication center and allows you to get the most out of your system by managing it from wherever you may be. You can connect through the Victron Remote Management (VRM) Portal, access from the GX Touch, an MFD, or even connect from the VictronConnect App via Bluetooth.
Features
Perfect Monitoring & Control
Control any setting to optimize the system, follow up on alerts, or perform diagnostics remotely.
Maximize System Performance
The Cerbo GX Maximises system performance in real-time!
Simple Mounting & Configuration
Optimized to meet installer standards.

Victron Energy | GX Touch 50
The GX Touch 50 and GX Touch 70 are display accessories for Victron’s Cerbo GX. The five-inch and seven-inch touchscreen displays give Get an instant overview of your system and adjust settings in the blink of an eye with the touch screen displays. A waterproof design, single cable set-up, and simple installation create a tidy yet flexible framework that makes your system as pleasant to look at as it is to use.

EG4-WallMount Indoor Battery
48V 280Ah | 14.3kWh | Indoor | Heated UL1973, UL9540A | 10-Year Warranty
The WallMount Indoor 14.3kWh batteries are ideal for low-voltage residential indoor energy storage applications. The batteries use lithium iron phosphate cells with the highest safety performance and an intelligent Battery Management System (BMS) that can monitor and record the voltage of each cell along with the current, voltage, and temperature of the module in real-time. The BMS also contains a passive balance function and an advanced battery control method, both of which improve the performance of the battery pack.
ON-BOARD LCD TOUCH SCREEN
DUAL ON-BOARD FIRE ARRESTORS
Offer fail-safe protection against thermal runaway.
INTEGRATED SELF-HEATING FEATURE
Internal heating keeps cells operating during cold temperatures.
INTEGRATED BUSBARS
The battery design comes manufactured with 600A internal busbars with multiple terminals (4 positive & 4 negative) eliminating the need for external busbars when paralleling batteries and/or multiple inverters.
INNOVATIVE EMERGENCY STOP FUNCTION
The optional ESS disconnect can shut down all batteries and inverters (if equipped with rapid shut down capability) with the press of a button.
THE PERFECT PARTNER TO EG4 INVERTERS
The optional conduit box mates up directly to the connection ports of EG4 inverters allowing a sleek and efficient installation. For other inverters or stand-alone battery installation, the conduit box plugs should be installed.

You certainly get what you pay for with Victron. We hear nothing but great things about their products, and they're very popular in the mobile application market. Great job explaining why you may or may not want/need the additional components!

What a beast of a system! Nice video, sir.

@tgbatg very happy you like that unit, the only issue is noobs to this space trying todo DIY will always go with an all-in-one because its all-in-one and they are new to this space, so no matter how capable that unit is not being all in one will not be for beginners, this is more for people who is already very comfortable building out a full system with many different components together and know how todo good wire management etc.. and to get that setup to support 240v you’ll need another unit etc.. but yeah EG4 systems runs for years after setup no issues, same as Growatt units, once setup properly will just work for years nothing todo. But yeah it’s a very capable unit but iMO not for beginners.

Excellent video. I was astonished at how fast the AC1 output flipped over when the grid was disconnected. Presumably, when the grid suffers an outage the inverter is already sychronised with the grid profile and all that is happening is that the inverter isolates AC1 from the grid and continued to feed it with own "micro grid island" (but with presumably same the profile as the grid). So when the grid comes back up, the microgrid is already synchronised and can reconnect the grid just as quickly. This makes me wonder....if I was to take my PV output to AC1, then that would probably/possibly keep my PV system alive and able to power other loads on AC1 and keep charging the battery. This would be safe too, because during a grid outage, the Multiplus would physically disconnect AC1 from the grid.

no no no to double tapping those main lugs. get the victron lynx battery power in connector with Fuses.
love the journey! building my own here soon with eg4. run victron offgrid at the trailer

Great video! Does this configuration cause the system to run in 'close loop mode' where the batteries control the inverter and how it charges? In that case, the batteries will always charge to 100%. I want to run open loop mode where the inverter can limit the charge level to 95%, but still have communication between the inverter and battery and be able to readout the max and min cell voltages on the GX-touch 50 display. Thanks.

I'm looking to upgrade to a similar system- eg4 wallmount with victron multiplus 2 (5000va), victron 250/100 mppt. my question is should I include the lynx shunt, or do the comms out of the eg4 battery provide the same data to the cerbo gx? It looks like your getting all the necessary data without it. I do plan on including a lynx distributor.

Great video, thank you. Does a system like this end up increasing the ac input electricity bill, or does it offset against the battery supplied power? I guess this is related to round trip efficiency of the battery? Some clarification would be appreciated.

Can this inverter be installed on a ceiling of an RV pass-thru - basically with the front label facing down?

You mentioned you had to make that cable for the BMS-Can? More details on that please? I have the same cerbo GX and battery, but not getting any battery comms into the Cerbo and does not see the battery in device list - assuming something funky about the cable? Awesome video, thanks!

I cant hear anything you say because you decided to wear your shirt inside out and people watching can obviously see there is a print on the other side. Im trying to see if I can make out what it says, but by doing so, I am not listening to you. Go change clothes, come back, and try again. I do believe everything else is good, just the shirt thing is impossible to get past.
