This Multiplus II is not what I've ordered. But I keep the free upgrade, right?!

The inverter upgrade is one of the many changes we have to make with the battery shelf coming online soon. The existing 3kVA inverter is not enough to deliver all the energy from our 45kWh battery.
I wanted to upgrade to a Victron Phoenix inverter which we can parallel later to increase the power output. Springers Solar didn't haven one in stock and send the Multiplus II as a free upgrade. The Multi has some really cool features which I cannot use right now. Should I keep it anyway?

Absolutely keep it! In fact, keep the MP2, sell off the old inverter and put the $$ towards a 2nd MP2 and enjoy have 10Kva at your disposal. You’ll need it down the track. If you install x2 inverters now you won’t need to change your wiring in the future

Great inverter. You can actually daisy chain the Multiplus II after the Phoenix. Connect the Phoenix on the input of the Multiplus II and the Multiplus II will be able to supplement the power if the Phoenix doesn't have enough capacity.

Hey Andy, Keep the multiplus I have been using one for a few years and it has options that you don't even know you need until one day you want to try something and then you realise that all you have to do is enable it. it has saved me buying additional equipment so many times.

Andy, As a Solar installer I can tell you the MP2 is a very robust unit. However it does have a flaw that I don't like. The A/C input is a push style connector and not a screw type. Using a ferrule on the end of the wire does help inserting the wire but it don't crush to give you a full wire contact. Bare wire is harder to insert. But has a much better contact area. I wish they would of used the screw style terminal on the MP2 like they did on other models.

Keep the free upgrade Andy! Looking forward to "experience sharing" of the new inverter.
Those features sound very similar to the MPP Solar/voltronic power infinisolar V2 hybrid inverter, but it has solar charge controller and grid tie feed in the inverter itself along with all the usual features like AC charger, parallel, communication at a fraction of the victron price. I don't know how they do it. Anyways that inverter won't satisfy local requirements for grid tie I guess, but still worth a mention.

Like many people say. Two is one and one is none. It is better to have a spare inverter in case of problem. Maybe one for the garage ant the other por the house. Specially when your on track ends and you try to run the house of grid. Nice work Andy. I learn a lot with you.

Andy, my suggestion is to keep it. And maybe Victron should donate a second multiplus II ( it would allow you to create a master/slave arrangement, more complex wiring diagrams, trial your domestic installation, etc ). Your content on batteries is amazing and I'm willing to bet the content on the inverters/ grid charge controller ( multiplus ) would be considerably better than Victrons. Keep up the good work!

Keep the Multi Plus, if you can't spend out initially just split the loads across the inverters and then later you can sell the Phoenix to buy the next MultiPlus.
Or perhaps see if the supplier would be willing to do a trade-in on the Phoenix now to upgrade your system sooner rather than later?

Keep it. As for others that do it, I believe the Sol-Ark / Sunsynk / Deye 8/12/15kw (which are regional rebrands with minor changes) can do these things the Multiplus 2 can. Good video!

Hello from the high desert of New Mexico USA 🇺🇸. Hi Andy I'm glad to hear about the free upgrade. I would say, keep the Multiplus 2 and see if Springers will take in your old inverter as trade credit for a second Multiplus 2. Keep up the good work and stay safe and charged. May God bless you and your family

Keep it, you'll want it for the grid-tie.
Sell your phoenix later and upgrade to 2x multi-pluses.
You won't regret it. (More is always better!!!)

Stick to the plan mate... don't get sidetracked by new shiny toys, but in saying that, sounds like it will be a sweet setup if you can hook it up to the house system to change your batteries 🔋 👍

Hello Andy,
Just a quick message from a french frog. I subscribed to your channel last month and I wanted to thank you for sharing so much. You made me triggering the decision of starting a ESS project for my house.
And - guess what - the device I ordered and received a couple of days ago is a Multiplus II 5KvA !
I would love to share my experience with you as well.
Thanks again so much.

Awesome upgrade, seems a lot like the Outback Radian inverter that we run here. It is a 8KW inverter that is made up of 2 4KW modules. Using split phase 240V here.
