“I’m gonna win again.”

What a Chad response. I love it.

I was just released from prison after serving 17 years and I have never been more inspired to get it all together after listening to Jocko's "Good" podcast episode.

My past is full of successes, failures, interesting life experiences and things I could spend time lamenting but I choose to look for the lesson and leave it the past. I focus on today...but...what I do today, each day, to work towards a bigger goal in the future. I do not get anxiety about the future because I know the work I'm putting in daily are going to get me where I desire to be. Jocko keeps me focused on what must be done.

Why do I listen to Jocko regularly?
I asked myself this question this morning and initially thought that it was because Jacko refocuses what I do onto the most important things in life, and I can see the results. There are lots of people who do that - so why is it, that Jacko makes a difference? Today I came to the conclusion that Jacko is soooo good at articulating ideas - in such a simple way that resonates easily, is easy to remember and easy to one step at a time.

My father always told me that the decisions I make today affect the man I will become tomorrow. Took me 18 years for that to really make me think.

I can totally relate to that last part. I was just naturally predisposed to be stronger, taller, and smarter than everyone I went to school with. But there came a point around 8th grade when my natural “gifts” wouldn’t cut it any more, and soon everyone was past me because I didn’t know how to work hard. I’m still working on it today, but I know I’ll catch up and pass them just as soon as they passed me, only this time I’ll stay. Thank you Jocko and Echo!

I've been struggling with not drinking on Saturdays. I've made it a habit to get wasted on Saturdays while watching fights with my homie. Today will be my 3rd week sober. Not a drop of alcohol. Lost about 10 lbs in the meantime. It sucks having to stay at home on a Saturday while everyone else is out doing stuff. I know it's for the best. I will find a book to read.

Happiness comes from chasing the money. That effort gives meaning, purpose and fulfillment.

What a wicked explanation of giving the child or employee a shorter goal that's in the right direction. 🤙🏼

11:53 echo bringing up a 90 burpee analogy and jocko asking why he didnt record the time and/or raise it to 100 burpees while intensely clutching a knife is like one of the top two reasons i watch this podcast lmao

Great podcast, as usual. Self reflecting on mistakes I've made in my past and what I can do differently in the future. Going through a divorce in a marriage that was going on 24 years. Having a really hard time with it, but this podcast got me focused on my new long game. Thanks guys.
