I have the same model and need to update the firmware. Really great information and nice quality video production. I know in past videos you stated you always wanted to keep improving your videos and this video definitely shows your hard work. Thanks for posting!

Nice review. I may need to look into buying one now. Can't have too many PSU's :)

Just seeing what the firmware update actually was, since I got a 3303X a few days ago. Interesting to see it side-by-side with that other beastly supply, used to have one like it years ago (they must be rebranded by dozens of companies).

Greetings from Canada. Enjoy your content. I have the same power supply (firmware current to the device's hardware version, i.e., v3.0).

In CC mode, the slave display (CH2) is indicating measurably less current output than the master. Putting an ammeter on a load confirms that the current output for both channels - regardless of their values - are summed or combined (so the 'total' is accurate) - it's just that they aren't 'balanced'. It seems that this difference is much more pronounced at lower currents, e.g., charging a 12V SLA battery, where the difference is 60% or more. Using load resistors and higher currents, the difference between the two channels lessens to about 20% but, again, the two outputs combined accurately represent the current being consumed. Not sure what to make of it as this is not the same as your demonstration.

Thank you for your informative videos.

Great review, Tony. I have been eyeballing this power supply for a few months now, in fact. If it is of any interst to you, I read a post on the EEVblog Forum describing how to update the SPD3303X-E to the higher resolution non-E version. Not sure how you feel about that type of hacking but it is possible.

Wow, I have had my 3303 for several years and did not know about the OCP feature. It is not in my owners manual. I want to charge two LiPo batteries with the PSU and I have been trying to learn how to set a low-end current cut-off limit. I was thinking that I would have to use EasyPower, but it appears from your video that I might be able to just use the OCP function... Let's see if I have this correctly... My batteries are the GB/T 18287 type. I have bypassed their internal charging boards. Let's say that the stated working voltage is 3.7V, the charge voltage is 4.3V, a safe charging current of 1A and the cutoff current is 200mA - all from the batteries' data sheet. I use the two PSU channels independently. I set both channels' voltage to 4.3V. I set the constant current to 1A. I set the OCP to 200mA. The current and voltage will automatically adjust. And, the OCP will turn off the charge cycle, when the current charging rate drops to 200mA. Correct? I sure hope so. Setting up the computer would be a hassle, for just charging batteries. Thank you for all that you do for us! Yes, I know that I can buy a cheap charger, but I am using this to learn about the PSU.

Hey Tony, Thank you for the detailed video. In the EEVblog teardown of this model he had noted that the plugs didn't fit securely into the jacks, but that review was from a couple of years back. With this more recent unit did you notice any problems like that?

Nice video. I went for the Owon DP3033. It had ocp out of the box.

Ha Tony, mede naar aanleiding van jouw review heb ik deze voeding ook gekocht. Heb echter een vraagje. Ik meet 224v AC in mijn stopcontact. Op welke instelling moet ik het input voltage nu zetten? 220 of 230v? Ik kan in de handleiding niets vinden.

Hello Tony,
you made a really great video.

One question, is it a switching power supply or a linear power supply?

Thanks for your help in advance and best regards

Dat is nou raar Tony. In de EEvlog teardown van Dave is de display op 1 mv/1ma afleesbaar. Hoe zit dat nou?

Is this SPD 3303X model reliable? I’m planning to buy one sometime soon for personal purpose. Or could you recommend any other DC suppliers?

Hi, I've got the question to SPD3303X-E (SPD3303X) owners. Have you tried applying latest firmware? In my case I was able to do so, but after upgrade every time I power SPD3303X-E on - I hear clicking relays. Meaning - my relays will gradually wear out. So, I am planning to revert to older firmware. Anyone else experienced relay issues after firmware upgrade? BTW, OCP works.

Hi, got the same unit and tried to update the firmware to the newest one. After a lot of problems I finally got easypower to connect to the unit. I then tried to update it via usb, it started the process and soon after that it gave me an error message. Now every time I try to turn it on, its stuck on the usb update screen at 0%. In your video you said that the update over usb also failed, so I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks to recover the unit?

Can I charge a 12v 280Ah battery with this?

NI Visa is terribly bloated. A requirement to use such an ancient version of it is really odd and might lead to compatibility issues with other measurement devices, which will expect much newer versions of it. I've had a lot of bad experience with the NI Visa framework. It's less known, but Agilent also have their own Visa framework, which I've found much easier and reliable to use.
