How to replace the battery on your Dyson V6™ cordless vacuum

See how to replace the battery of your Dyson V6 and DC59 cordless vacuum. Your machine may differ from the example shown, but the process remains the same.

If your machine displays a red flashing light that flashes more than 12 times, this could mean that the battery needs replacing.

Always ensure you disconnect your machine from the charger cord before carrying out any maintenance.

The battery pack can be removed from the machine by undoing the 3 Philips screws which hold it in place - one on the handle, and two on the underside of the machine.

The new battery pack can then be fitted in the same way.

Step 1. Remove the three screws on the underside of the battery.
Step 2. Dispose of the existing battery as per local codes and regulations.
Step 3. Locate the new battery into the handle.
Step 4. Secure in place with the three existing/supplied screws.

Has anyone at Dyson never used a cordless drill/screwdriver battery pack? After the power is gone. You can't switch to mains. You can't simply plug in a fresh battery. It's a huge oversight in design. Unclip. Slide. Done. Efficient and convenient.
