Pro Tip from a 39 year old: You’ll really only have 1 to 3 actual, real friends. It’s not a big deal to be popular, network yes, popularity not so much.
You want friends who will not only listen, but will also IN LOVE, tell you truthful and honest hard things that are hard to hear about yourself, and when you’re going in a bad direction. It’s ok to have a friend that loves you enough to make you think about what you’re doing.
A good friend will also ask if you want them to listen to you or to give advice. Wanting the best also means getting some tough love sometimes.
Good news, man, the celebration with that real friend is the best.

I disagree, a friend telling you of their own bad circumstances is trying to comfort you that you WILL get through it. They are trying to suggest, be patient. To listen alone keeps them stuck in the negative thought.
