Videos and photos generally take up the most iPhone storage space. Start by deleting the videos and pictures you no longer need. Pay extra attention to ProRes videos and ProRAW images. These files are significantly larger than regular videos and photos.

If you don't want to delete your photos, you can still compress images and trim videos to clear iPhone storage space. We've even built a helpful shortcut that compresses ProRAW images for you!

Next, delete offline content you no longer need. This includes music, podcasts, and saved episodes from streaming services like Netflix.

Thank you for helping me reclaim over 20 GB of space on my phone. I do believe it’s important to mention one downside of automatically offloading apps though. If the app is removed from the App Store and you have offloaded it for some reason, you cannot reinstall it, even if your personal data is left on the phone. At that point, you were just forced to delete the app altogether. This may not be a problem for major apps like Facebook or dropbox, but it is a huge problem for smaller apps from independent developers. I have lost several cooking apps that way. Since I didn’t remove them from one of my other devices, I still get to use them on there with no problem. That makes me really sad. 😞 for that reason, I only offload apps manually, and I’m only willing to offload ones that are backed by large companies with deep pockets that I know I can reinstall. I wish we could go back to the days when you could download an app in iTunes and put it on your devices so you wouldn’t lose an app because Apple through an app out of the store for not updating an icon or because now they’re on a cycle where you have to post updates every few months or get kicked out of the store.

Again, thank you for helping me reclaim some space on my phone. :-) Music was the big culprit for me as well as a lot of podcast files. I haven’t been paying attention to them and didn’t realize how they were creeping up on me.

Please slow down! Especially when jumping around from setting to another section of the phone, from 1 app to another. That portion of the video showing where your clicking on..is visible for about half a second. It’s frustrating trying to follow along with you guys.
