I have the 9900K and honestly I can see no upcoming CPU tech to make think I'll need to replace it for the next 3-4yrs (at least). Not interested in productivity applications, so having more than 8c16t seems like total overkill.

I keep thinking the improvement comes from larger L1 data cache (32 to 48) (4 way to 8 way as well) and double sized L2 cache (256 to 512) instead of better processor design.

The 9900k seems much more power efficient. Only 10fps difference with 30watt more power consumption, seems like the 9900 is the better CPU overall.
That power consumption on the 11th gen is just hideous.

9900k is still a beast not worth upgrading to the 10th or 11th gen from it honestly I am waiting till 13 or higher before I replace it as the 12900k is a big mess right now anyway. And the whole ddr5 thing good luck not enough options right now or availability.

It has no sense to compare cpu's while u run games which use only 40% or 50%..
Try some stress programs or some online multiplayer games which requires more

Rocking the i9 9900KS and rtx 3090 in my PC.. I like how the 3090 pushes this cpu to its limits.
