Lived in both places. Silicon Valley is WAY better in terms of innovation, creativity, diversity, open mindedness, culture, scenery, weather (the list goes on).

Frankly Singapore has many strengths and advantages but imo it cant be like Silicon Valley, there is limited space. And the pool of people is too

Tokyo is the city with the highest GDP in the world. Hong Kong and Singapore have bigger financial market than most of the world.

Common, give them a break, a tiny state with less than 6 million people and don't conclude so early. It's a nation that no one has ever predict can survive after kicked out from Malaysia. Since independent, it has not only survived, it is today a formidable force and a voice of the world. People always like to compare this tiny state Vs the giants, like US, China, EU, etc.. but it will never match the scale and don't waste time debating if it will be successful in any aspects.

The biggest thing in favour of Silicon Valley (California) is *Freedom of Expression*
It is very important to have strong Liberal Democracy for R&D.

Quick answer - not really. First, it doesn't have a competitive market. The potential growth in the local market has been reserved by the regulators for...the regulator (statutory boards which operate as for-profit enterprises as well as regulatory boards all have the same shareholder, Temasek). Secondly, the culture is not creative or willing to take risks. The model here is about copying something someone else has done and getting a government board to support it.

Those in the high tech business would never tolerate Singapore's overbearing and stringent governance. It would not be a lasting marriage in the least.

Also, the SGX is a dumping ground for the government's waste. It's a place for fraudulent trading, not for transparent transactions.

If the Singapore government doesn't help that single local startup there is a 99% that startup will fail in Singapore .
-because of lack of talent pool in Singapore
-high technical challenges barrier to overcome
-Lack of expertise in scaling business
-Lack of law experts in tech field

singapore government need to understand Incubator isn't designed to help startup
No idea why they spend mass money on incubator program?

Singapore is trying to be many things at once. It wants to be in Asia financial, global mediation etc. It just cannot be everything ... when Gov controls everything. It just has its limits within such structure.
