Russell M. Nelson seems to have just revived the doctrine known at various points as the TK Smoothie, the Telestial Ken Doll, or the Phallus Doctrine.

Let me know if you think he has brought it back!

Anyone who speaks to adults with a Primary voice cannot be trusted.

Nelson throws a huge wrench into mixed faith families in this talk and tells people they’re seduced by evil spirits. In his previous GC message, he urged us to be kind and not throw around hurtful labels. Yet the GC before that, he called people lazy learners and lax disciples. I’m getting whiplash here from all the acrobatics.

He also contradicts Oaks’ repeated statements that gender is eternal. (I learned this from Mormonism Live today.)

If Heaven has only mormons in it, I don't want to go! It would be a HELL of a place

That actually tucking terrifies me. He’s grooming children into being so scared to mess up and make mistakes that if they do mess up, their body will in unspecified ways the lesser then, that’s terrifying and disturbing thing to say.

If you go along with it, I think he is referring to the different bodies Paul was talking about in 1 Corinthians 15:40. As to what previous prophets said about those bodies, that would have to be implied by the listener but I don’t think he was thinking about the reproductive organs… mostly the glory at which the person is given.

It is absolutely bizarre, and I 💯 agree. 😮 I felt his entire talk was offensive, demeaning and terribly unkind. This man represents Jesus? He gave multiple prophetic statements with zero explanation or qualifiers. He showed no sensitivity for part-member families, mixed faith marriages, or all of the complexities of life every member out there is struggling with. He just left everyone feeling shamed, with an overall sense of hopelessness. His statement to never take advice from anyone who doesn't believe in God left me absolutely speechless. ?!?! So, is one supposed to vet all of their doctors, professors, bosses and other professionals to ensure they "believe in God" before collaboration and learning from them? I assume you'll cover that one, too, Nemo. Nelson successfully won the "worst talk" award 🏅

I don't think it means anything in particular. It's fear mongering, emotional manipulation. He's stringing words together to ensure that his marks continue to obey and conform, by playing on their anxieties of eternity.

This is the problem with lies- its hard to remember which ones you’re supposed to be sticking to, especially as you get old!

Why is Nelson so sure he's making it to the Celestial Kingdom?

He was equivocating- it a good way for people to hear what they want. 101 grifter move.

I categorize this as what I call "Pigeon Hole Doctrine" . . . basically saying that based on a few days or decisions here in mortality, we'll all be essentially pigeon-holed in a static situation for all eternity. Not only would this be unfair, but it really doesn't make a lick of sense.

Mormonism sure seems like a delusional and unhealthy way to live a life 😢

Yeah, it doesn't matter what the scriptures say, what matters is that a prophet can change scripture commandments, you know, like all those new and everlasting laws.

Can't imagine reaching Heaven and finding only Mormons. I'd ask for a transfer.

The issue is that LDS believe that eternal exaltation and perfection involves sexual reproduction, whereas the common Christian belief, based on the Bible, is that there is no sexual procreation in the resurrected state.

When I was a teen in the church (70s) it was all about eternal progression, no worries, no fears. Lots of God’s love for us, and the atoning power of Jesus Christ.

This stuff used to really get me down..
it’s just so ridiculous and aggressive and bad for the world. Bizarre, really.
