Adding a small amount of bonding agent to your mix also helps dramatically.
I’ve got repairs out there I did decades ago, that still look great.

Typically i agree with slurrying the existing with the latex, and or even adding some to the mix / mixing with it. If you read the installation instructions most will say not to mix this dry mix with anything besides water. It already has what it needs in the dry mix.. including bonding and curing agents

To repair my steps I used an air chisel and removed the material around and under the cracks. The damage goes much deeper than what you can see. 20 years later, my work is still rock solid, now I'm eyeing a step or two that I passed on with the first effort.

I usually make a slurry with the bonding agent in it

You're supposed to put the concrete on when the bonding agent is still tacky not completely dry.

Question... looks like erosion (constant water dripping splashing etc. ) what was done to stop this? Or was that why the fence / wall was put up?

You can use two gallon freezer bags to mix it up and cut the corner off to tuck point.

If you can do a video about waterproofing a lot of concrete fails because of water penetration and then the temperature swings that you get during the course of a year I waterproof any concrete job I’ve ever done and I don’t do concrete that often but in 20 years I have not had a major failure in any stairs or any concrete job I’ve ever done because I waterproof no I’m not a concrete contractor I only do it on my own properties
