Homeownership is tough! And a lot of times you simply don't have the money to fix everything the way you want to.

Use a bonding agent so the new concrete will bond with the old.

You know what? That was great. Thanks for sharing and showing it didn't get done in half an hour.

I like how you lengthened the steps to get a thicker repair.

Don't know if I'll ever need this but I like his style. Showing you how to repair something with absolutely no bullshit, no music, nothing, just facts.

Thank you. For all your instruction. Really. I suffer from insomnia and spent couple hours watching your videos. Great stuff.

Looks good, I like the one step at a time technique. I would’ve pressure washed the steps really well and used an additive in the concrete to help it bond to the old concrete. The new concrete looks pretty thick though so it’s essentially a bunch on slabs on an old staircase foundation and partially on one another so it should hold up well.

If u drilled some rebar down into each step and then pored the concrete it will last a lifetime, and wouldn't take very long or too much extra cost, great job man goog work keep up the videos 👏

Didn’t know Liam Neeson was such a handyman

Great work. I assume you waited for each one to dry before doing the next one. I would have started at the top and come downwards to save time.

Your timber framing and finishing is sound, it looks nice. If you’re ever in this situation again to improve adhesion to the old material you should get rid of all dust and thoroughly wet the old material first and use as soft a sand as you can for the job (ballast or sharp is best for bulk, soft or plastering sand is best for suction). The slower the substrate sucks the moisture out of the new concrete the stronger the bond will be. 👍

Nice job. Temporary fix, but within budget. Good work.

First off great job on the repair.second item. It is so nice to see a video without a million disparaging or insulting comments.
And once again great repair job

What a lovely job!!
That looks so neat, i like the way the left sides of each step (from a viewer perspective) continue into the edging … fabulous!!

Gotta give credit where it’s due guys.
One of the best bodge jobs I’ve seen.
And I approve 👍👍

That looks awesome. I would have put some wire mesh in the concrete but looks really nice.

Use bonding compound and drill holes into old concrete then add rebar / new concrete .

Am in the roofing trade but that's how i fixed my stairs which was about 12 years ago and still looking good

I did the same thing at my old house. I painted it after I was done with concrete paint to help seal it and make it last longer

I'd love to see a follow up next year. I'm not a mason, but I'm doubtful that will hold more than a year -- especially if you get snow and ice. I expect the thinner spots to chip and flake soon and the larger blocks to one day just break entirely off because of a weak (no?) bond.
