The Problem with Minecraft Bedrock Edition

While i know that programming language isnt everything, but given that bedrock is written is c++ which is far more memory efficient than java, it's actually amazing that it can lag more than java sometimes

Some of your arguments make no sense. Bedrock is old therefore it can't handle updates, by that reasoning same applies to Java, and it's even older. Both Bedrock and Java suffer from performance issues. The solution is more optimization based focus, and hiring of professional C++/Java programmers and more time for updates to get polished.

Nah mojang is fixing these bugs already. Like the random taking "fall damage" while towering up as of now is fixed. While lag does occur on low end devices, it's mostly super old devices that only have 2 gb ram. I play on a 8 gb ram phone and it runs very smooth. Mojang isn't at fault here. They have absolutely no control over the devices that people play Minecraft on. Mojang did the best they can to optimize the code. Same goes with java where low end pcs are barely able to handle it without a performance mod.

Ive been playing bedrock since it was called as Pocket Edition and it only truely runs good on mobile loading does take a while now i have it on the Nintendo Switch and its so laggy what would take like a minute on console edition takes like 5 on bedrock on the switch for me at least

This video is built on top of two assumptions that are totally wrong.
1. Code gets "old". It does not. Some critical infrastructure that powers your home and keeps you warm and safe, gets your stuff delivered is built by grandpas. And it still works totally fine. In some fields which are new there are indeed developments which lead is to understanding of the better approaches, but the video games, especially Minecraft, are so complicated, that you can't really improve much. Bedrock was initially well designed by a team of experienced developers, and Java was just an attempt of two men in guesswork the unknown, when they had no idea what the game is going to be. Now Mojang have to support initial assumptions about what game Minecraft Alpha should have been, which is tedious. But eventually those optimal solutions from Bedrock actually coming to Java.
2. Java is slow and bad. Over the last like three years Mojang actually significantly reworked Java edition. It's not visible for players much, but any modder who worked 1.17-1.20 will say that a lot of things changed. There's still slowness in graphical performance, but as far as I'm concerned it's targeted in the upcoming release with light system rework. Yes people usually play Java with 250 mods and wonder why it lags, but the base game works well.

If that would've be a significant problem, Mojang would optimize the pain points of Bedrock in a couple of months. It doesnt take rework of the game to fix that. It's just not a priority. And while I'm for life Java fan (I played vanilla bedrock like only 3 times in my life), I think this is unfair to see people blaming Mojang for bad performance mostly due to a single (though critical) issue that was already fixed.

The main reason I quit Bedrock after years is the things you have to worry about for late game things is absurd.

Don't build any farm at chunk borders because redstone will break, flying machines will break and mobs will just disappear.

Build a city block sized mob farm in the middle of nowhere specifically on chunk borders to get the rates of a basic java cobblestone mob grinder


Build an iron farm the size of a city block with tediously linked villagers to get the rates of a mid tier java farm

Also worry about all your farms and contraptions breaking permanently because the game updates without your consent and you can't go back to older versions.

I can go on but until the stupid limitations of Bedrock aren't resolved it's objectively an inferior game when you really get into it.

My minecraft Bedrock version of the Nintendo switch version crashes alot i really loved playing minecraft on handholds console i had it on the psvita legcy edition had no problems with it crash the game a few bugs that was it that was years ago in 2014. But now in 2024 the Bedrock version of the switch version crash alot i haven't got minecraft legcy edition on the Nintendo switch version just bugrock😪

I noticed that on my ipad with M2 and 8GB of ram, Minecraft does not require the maximum power to the processor, remaining in fact cold and consuming less battery unlike other games that take advantage of all the computing power. I don't have any active energy savings either.

I really want to hate on this because literally every youtuber makes a video saying it sucks, but it's true, I can barely play Minecraft Bedrock now, and it feels like the lag keeps getting worse.

You can actually mod bedrock edition there's really much mods on android like in other apps, games.

Other difference is that in Minecraft Java the game lags completely, but with bedrock you can keep moving normally but the other entities lag, and you can easily die
