Commercial: Are you tired of trying to learn to play guitar by watching random videos on YouTube
Me: Obviously not, trooper. Now go away and let the man do his thing.

From a self taught guitarist… thank you for putting out all of these awesome videos. A year and a half ago I picked up a guitar for the first time and I was so clueless on how to even start, or if it was even something I could get good at. I pulled up your Beginner Electric guitar video and the rest is history. I’ve been stuck on trying to learn scales and all the positions etc because everyone seems to make it complicated. So thank you for always going the extra mile to break everything down and most of all for being so passionate about it!

The major and minor scales are at the root of all interesting modes and scales, and chords! Awesome work man!

Marty, I’ve been learning from you since I was 8 years old (2009) learning come as you are from you. Didn’t get serious till I was 14 (2015) and went right back to you. I’m 22 now, and you’ll always have an important role in my life

Marty has single handed trained a generation of guitarists 😂. You’re the best man, thanks for all you do and the lessons 🤘

I started watching Martin at 30 years old, never picked up a guitar and wanted to know how to play so I could teach my son to play guitar. I'm now 38 and back here to learn more than just G, A, D, E, C, Em, F. Thank you man! 🎸🤘

I’m offended there’s even the option to dislike Marty’s music😒

Thanks Marty! I've been a trumpet player for about 10 years, but only just started learning guitar (mainly just for the fun of noodling around to stuff I listen to😂). You explain stuff so clearly and you have a truly infectious personility! I love how your videos always reinforce the idea that learning, teaching and playing an instrument is - for many people including me - primarily about having fun. The joy and passion you have for teaching and playing guitar really comes across in these videos, which makes them a pleasure to watch!!

When it comes to Marty's educational prowess of the Axe...All one has to do is observe the name on the amplifier...

Good one Marty. As a guitar teacher my main quick tip for students who found playing something over a Happy chord progression difficult has always been.. PLAY THE PENTATONIC SHAPE - 3 FRETS DOWN from the root of your home chord. No shapes, because that's called MODES. just the pentatonic. Instant country, instant paradise city, instant Knockin on heavens door! As someone who learnt guitar during the late 70s metal revival I appreciate that cissy, soft, happy gets ignored!

Thanks for putting out these videos Marty. I’ve learned how to play some songs here and there but have realized the importance in mastering the fundamentals; especially for older players starting out. I appreciate everything you’ve done for this community and hope you keep rocking for many more years.

Came here after watching a more theoretical video about this scale and how to build chords from it. I totally appreciated your "freestyle" approach, I'll practice that to learn a bit of improvisation. The loop pedal deserves some props too
