The are the next books you need to read! For the fantasy lovers, mystery lovers, romance lovers - you're in the right place
1. Under the Whispering Door - TJ Klune:
This easily became my new favourite book of all time. A journey of self discovery, self love, and romance - this is a beautiful story that brought me to tears and made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion. A unique story of life after death and finding true friends and family. So so good!
2. The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches - Sangu Mandanna:
All the cozy, cottagecore, witchy vibes! This book will make you want to crawl into your comfiest chair, with your reading socks, and finish the whole thing in one go. It takes you through all the feels - laughs, tears, romance - and genuinely left me feeling warm and fuzzy. I wish I could go back and experience it all again for the first time!
3. Where the Crawdads Sing - Delia Owens:
I laughed, I cried, and everything in between. This book is for nature lovers, romance lovers, and mystery lovers alike. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions and genres so there’s something to love for everyone. From poverty in the marsh land, to womanhood and paving her own path, this book is beautiful, heartbreaking and heartwarming and an overall must read!
4. The Midnight Library - Matt Haig:
A pretty sad beginning turns right around to a wonderful ending. This book is really about second chances and looking inwards. You are taken on a journey of lives and possibilities, and it may leave you wanting to change a thing or two in your own life (or not...). This book is different from anything I’ve ever read and I loved it!
5. A Court of Silver Flames - Sarah J. Maas:
If you know, you know 😉🔥The fifth book in the ACOTAR series, this one switches up the narrative to a different character. For this reason I was hesitant to read it for a long time. But just like the others, once I started it, I couldn’t put it down! It’s spicy and heartwarming and has all the fantasy elements we love to see. A story of finding yourself after horrible events and really coming back to life from depression and PTSD. This whole series is a must read and, of course, the book boyfriends are strong with this one.
6. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Taylor Jenkins Reid:
A look into old Hollywood and the struggles of women and queer individuals during this time. Although this book is fiction, it sheds a light on the goings on (and necessary secrets) in Hollywood and the whole movie industry at the time. Beautiful and heartbreaking at times, this book is a must.
7. Ugly Love - Colleen Hoover:
This is the story of a rather toxic ‘situationship’. It is frustrating at times, extra spicy at others and perhaps, sadly relatable. Of course, there’s romance and growth, but if you like spice, this one is worth a read. Sometimes that’s all it comes to.
8. The Family Upstairs - Lisa Jewell:
I simply could not put this down! This book is so interesting and chaotic I read it within a couple days. As soon as you start to think you know what’s happening, the plot turns you upside down and the chaos continues. This book is a ‘whodunit’ mixed with psychological thriller and it centers around a family no one would want to be a part of - if you’re intrigued by cults or enjoy a good mystery, this is the book for you!
9. Verity - Colleen Hoover:
Colleen Hoover is typically known for her romance novels, but this book turns that reputation on its head. The ending keeps you thinking, double thinking, and questioning the truth. Mystery mixed with horror - I found I couldn’t read it at night but I also couldn’t put it down! You’ll keep turning the pages because you just NEED to know what happens and what the truth is.
10. A Haunting in the Arctic - C.J. Cooke:
This book surprised me in more ways than one. Another book I couldn’t read at night - the suspense and creepiness precedes every turn of the page. It centers on a sailor’s myth about mermaids and has elements of horror, betrayal, deception, and mystery. Once you start, you can’t stop reading or thinking about this incredibly unique novel.
