I once saw a comment from a European complaining that American grocery stores don’t let you ruin the multi-packs of soda for other shoppers by taking out individual bottles, even though you can buy cold individual bottles in another part of the store. They act like those giant bags of chips are meant to be a single serving. In America most of us get paid every two weeks, so when we shop we buy two weeks worth of food. So yes, the packages are large, that way they last for two weeks instead of running out after a couple days.
