Not an expert here, but I recently bought a new car cash using the strategy below, which is similar to what our customers use on us at the shipping company where I work.

1. Researched online and decided on the brand and model

2. Looked at several examples online, each at a different dealer and noted the posted prices. I decided to work with two of those dealers (lowest prices), so I took pictures of their respective online posts showing VIN numbers, prices, and any other relevant data.

3. Went to 1st dealer, test drove the car and asked them for the drive-out price. I let them know that I had to check with at least one more dealer before purchasing. 1st dealer was eager to get me to buy without going to the 2nd one, but I told him I needed to be able to compare two different prices from two different places.

4. Went to the 2nd dealer and told him I wanted a drive-out price. Told him I would show him the price of the 1st dealer once he gave me his. 2nd dealer asked me to just show him the price of the 1st dealer so he could beat it, but I refused, because I didn't just want him to beat it by a meaningless amount like $1 or so. 2nd dealer turned out to be more expensive, so I showed him the price of the 1st dealer. He offered to take off a $600 fee for "window tinting the dealer did" since "factory no longer does it", but their car was still $100 more expensive than the 1st dealer's.

5. I went back to the 1st dealer and bought theirs with a cashier's check. The decision was pretty much based on the color of the car and not the $100 we could save, though. We just liked the one at the 1st dealer more.

The logic in this strategy was that having two dealers pitted against each other (and letting them know that I was looking at two places) would hopefully prevent them from padding their drive-out prices too much, because neither of them would know what the other one gives me. This is what our customers do to us where I work.

Always take a snap shot of the vehicle you want to purchase, showing the price. Or, take a print out of the vehicle and the price when going to make the purchase.

Why? Because some sales reps are sneaky, they will do a price hike on you if you try to buy the car cash. Like you stated in the video, dealers make the most out of financing. If this sudden price hike happens to you, just go ahead and request to speak to the general manager. Show the general manager the snap shot or print out of the vehicle you want to purchase and call out the sales rep on the little price hike game being played. If the dealership wants to make cash money, the general manager will even drop the price more than you were originally going to pay. All in all cash or financing really depends on how your pockets are looking or how much cash is at play. Technically cash is King because you will save thousands of dollars in the long run when compared to financing. But the downfall on that move is the big chunk of change leaving your pockets.

Just a side note: make sure to have in writing that they will have your title electronically, sales rep may be friends with the title clerk at the dealership and they can slack on getting your title just to get on your nerves.

I can go on and on...the best advice I can give is....whatever you do, Just fucking do it!

You did an AMAZING job on this video and topic by the way!

Lol. buy a used $500 car and use that as a trade in. And try and get a 48 month payment plan. Nothing stops you from paying it off sooner does it?

Nope! That's grimy. Sad that sales have gotten so corrupt. IF I go to buy a dress and they are asking 150.00 for it plus sales tax. Then when I go to purchase it they tell me at check out I need to pay the clerk to ring it up. I think that should be included in the price. Therefore the price of the dress should be marked 175.00 plus tax. As a entrepreneur I include the extras in my price avoiding ill will on my customers.
