A Star Is About to Explode! And You'll Be Able to See It

What if I told you there's a star out there, a colossus many times larger than our Sun, with a volume big enough to squeeze 1.2 billion stars the size of our Sun inside? A star so unpredictable, its brightness changes constantly, its shape twisting and contorting in a cosmic dance. The reason for its unusual behavior is this huge star is on the brink of a cataclysmic finale, poised to explode in a spectacular supernova.

This is the star is Betelgeuse, one of the brightest stars in our night sky just 640 light years away.

When will Betelgeuse explode, and what secrets are hidden behind its unpredictable behavior? Are we about to witness a massive supernova in our night sky, and are we in danger when this huge star explodes?

Dear viewers, we've seen the negative reaction to our announcer's pronunciation of the name of the star, but rest assured it is also a correct pronunciation. This is the British version of the pronunciation since our narrator, Tom Bennet is British :)

Just don't say its name 3 times...

Obviously the voice of Destiny does not want to say "Beetle Juice" 3 or more times in a row as he does not want to summon that "ghost with the most" that looks like Michael Keaton.

We really are extremely rare considering how chaotic the universe is. Sad that we will destroy ourselves before we even realize how rare life really is.

I once saw a distant star expand and disappear.

But at 1.2 billion times our suns mass, isn't that big enough for it to collapse into a black hole making it the closest one to Earth? At the moment, the closest known black hole to Earth is called Gaia BH1, and it's located about 1, 560 light-years away in the constellation Ophiuchus. Surely if it does, at 640 ly from us, that's going to have some influence ??

Stop confusing people. Stars do not explode, they collapse. And collapsing causes that seeming effect.

According to reliable sources we are to see this within the next couple of decades, like anything from now till..which means it definitely happened already. We are waiting for this to be visible in OUR time.

Nothing new here, we already knew about the dimming. This is yet another *Betelgeuse is about to go Supernova* video when the reality is it could be anytime in the next 100, 000 years.

I'd love to witness this event in the desert or in New Zealand. Full effect

Just camp out there for weeks watching the event night after night with my campfire.

It is correctly pronounced as Beetle Juice. I know your British but still say the name correctly. 👍🏻
