Great podcast! I found symptom #5 really interesting. I know distorted thinking (self punishing and self critical thoughts) are not good, but I didn’t realize that it’s a sign of depression. What does it mean then if you have up and down days but you also have distorted thinking? Are you sad AND depressed? 🤔

Hi dr. Berney 😊 it seems that the sounds of your mic was low.. While dr. Richard's a bit loud 🤔 anyways, this topic is interesting👍👌

what can i do if a person that i love wont admit to themselves or her doctor that she is just sad and does not have clinical depression, I am not trying to offend anyone because i know that depression is a serious condition and should not be dismissed just because they dont have it and cant understand it, but my friend chooses to live her life in this made up world where she refuses to see reality and its getting harder for her to do so and she is desperately trying to hold on to the fantasy life shes created in her head that she would rather lie and get put on pills then admit that shes just not happy. and like so many doctors today it is so easy just to find one that writes a script for whatever then actually listen to her talk about whats going on that all she has to do is google signs of depression and now she has all the info to give the doctor what he needs to say shes depressed. Please can you help me. I'm just worried she will numb her emotions down with pills she doesnt need and miss out on life and her child growing up
