spicy tteokbokki

sauce:
5 dried red chillis
7 cloves garlic
1 tsp sugar
salt

- soak in hot water for 5 min to rehydrate chillis

blend with-
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp ketchup

- taste the sauce and add to the pot accordingly because it is quite spicy (feel free to take some sauce sauce and dilute it with water)
- add in fresh or defrosted rice cakes and simmer for 2-3 min till sauce thickens

top- cheese + sesame seeds

How to make tteok(rice cakes):


Take rice flour
Add some hot water to it
Mix it up with a spatula or a spoon accoridng to your how much your making. Then, knead it nicely with your hands till it's as soft as a baby's butt(don'tlet it cool down in the process of mixing)
Then make the shape of tteok with the dough
Take a pot and a large sifter that eill fit perfectly on the pot.
Add about half of water in the pot and let it boil.
Put the sifter on the pot and add the tteok on the sifter.(don'tadd all of the tteok if your making a large batch)
Cover it and check on it adter 15 mins. Poke your knife or fork in it and if there is residue let it cook more.

Your tteok is ready
You can make tteokbokki or let me tell you a good evening snack for leftoved tteok:

Take your kadhai
Add some oil, ghee or butter accoridng to your preference
Add some cumin seeds and curry leaves.
After a while add the tteok and add slat or other spices accroding to your desire and make it golden brown and crispy on the outside.

It may sound bland and too sinple but trust me it is worth it. You may add more ingredients if you want.

I just really love Gochujang though! Other than the chewy rice cakes, I think it's my favorite street food because of the amazing taste of Gochujang. 🥰🥰

I made this a few minutes ago and it’s really good but I added 5 of these dried red chili peppers and it’s super spicy but it’s really flavorful and delicious
