He’s got a point. You lack “real love”, Doug. The kind of “real love” that would drown your entire family if they ever hurt your feelings. Open your heart.

"If your very own BROTHER, or your SON or DAUGHTER, or the WIFE you LOVE, or your closest FRIEND secretly entices you to worship another god, don't listen to them. Your hand must be the FIRST to put them to DEATH!" -Deuteronomy 13:6-10. Praise the Lord!!!

“Without accepting my magical claims, you cannot experience love.” Is that bottomless stupidity, arrogance or ignorance? The answer is yes.

Imagine the days before christians were neutered by the enlightenment, when they actually followed through with physical actions based on this self righteous rhetoric.

I find it ironic that religious folks think as god tells them giving to charity is good, then they give to charity, them Christians thinking they are a kind person, no they are just doing what the book says is kind, not doing it as they want to be kind, I am agnostic I give clothes to charity as I would rather a poor person get clothes or help in some way than not, I did not need a book to tell me it is kind.

Imagine Christians becoming non believers, I reckon many will still given to charity, stop being kind etc, they are no able to be kind if they learn from a book.

In one way this was an honest response. The man's faith functions to allow him to feel valuable, significant and "loved". In his version of it (and perhaps all versions) this requires that other people's beliefs must be false and their relationships correspondingly invalid.
An extreme (?) example of what Doug would say "needy" I guess...

Are Muslims and Hindus capable of loving their families, or is it open Christians who are capable of this?

Just explain to slowly - through materialism. And that's that.

Yeah .... very persuasive ... NOT!

This Christian dude has an awful lot in common with those dudes who flew passenger planes into the World Trade Centre. He's a scary psycho. 😯

RELIGION can indeed make you SAY and THINK some really STUPID things.

No facts needed... Just believe hard enough.

Imagine the desperation for a reaction or a chink in the armor(of the flying man) to have to stoop this low of a statement.
I've had some pretty rude discussions but never has anyone dared to try this level of desperation.

This is a perspective thing, if you don't see it from the guy's perspective (not Doug's), you'll never get it.

Doug does not believe that he and his family have been separated from God. Continuing on in this separation to death, when a person dies, they remain eternally separated into an eternity of chaos apart from God. Jesus was the one that made a way possible to be restored to God and to have an eternal life within His kingdom upon death, rather than apart from it (order and not chaos). If Doug has been told this but refuses to believe it, well that is indeed, from this guy's perspective, unloving. Therefore Doug does not love his family.

Doug could argue "there's no proof of this God's existence", this guy could make a case and Doug still wouldn't believe it. In the end, the guy needs to pray for Doug rather than argue these points as arguing will get him no where. Doug has already made his mind up and if he actually was to seek God, then a discussion about who God is may help lead him in the right direction.

I'm merely here to point these things out from the guy's perspective, not Doug's. So no need to start a "God" debate with me, I'm not interested.

If you want to know more about God, Jesus, or discipleship and have an open heart and mind, I'm always willing to have an honest conversation about that. Peace and God Bless!
