Actually, the US was founded on the economic principle of protectionism. The founders demanded reciprocal trade, other words you buy a dollar from me and I will buy a dollar from you. If a country like China whose only asset is a massive workforce who will work for pennies, the founders added tariffs to the products these cheap, and slave labor economies wanted to sell to the US.

this video is really misleading about like, the actual causes of the downfall of these various countries and empires. The British Empire did NOT collapse because of corn, and the Roman Empire did not collapse because of grapes. There were many, many, MANY more reasons both these nations entered a state of decline and to try and play it off as just this one thing is incredible misleading.
