What is the Tuttle Twins?
How do you describe economics to a 7-year-old? Should your preteen care about the government? For too long, parents have been at the mercy of professional curriculum developers to instruct their children. History is watered down, key principles omitted altogether, and time and attention are given to things of lesser importance. Not anymore. Tuttle Twins is the first cartoon series to teach kids enduring principles of freedom, economics, and government that both they—and their adults—actually want to watch.

"What can people do to stop it?"

"Just about nothing"

I can think of a certain mouse that benefits too much from protectionism...

They can take their case to city counsel meetings, where they are usually ignored.

They can ban together to make a petition which rarely works.

They can raise awareness in the media, which is usually bought and paid for by the same corporations who benefit from protectionism.

So in other words, there are no effective ways to change this issue.

What protectionism actually is: Government policies that shield domestic industries from foreign competition. Example: the government passes a law that increases tariffs on foreign car manufacturers to protect domestic manufacturers like Ford.

Protectionism is one of the big things that seperates Capitalism and Corporatism

This is not protectionism. Protectionism is using things such as tariffs to shield a domestic economy from imports from other countries. usually this will apply to a country like china that mass produces consumer goods with the help of minimal regulation to things such as labor, making the products extremely cheap and sometimes impossible to compete with.

Isn't protectionism when you protect domestic industries by putting higher taxing on things from other countries?

Protectionism isn’t that. It’s when a country puts limits to the companies of other countries to grow it’s own industry/bussinesses with an unfair advantage. The funny thing is that the countries with the bjggest companies are or have had protectionist laws.

I heard that last line as "raise awareness through the noose."

If only...

Y'know what I love is this animation style and the setting being kinda like a tv show. The way it helps you to understand a subject through examples and visual representation.

It is easier to fight protectionism than to stop Derrick from doing what he wants.

As soon as you brought in gig services like Uber you lost me. They're nothing but a bottom feeder that makes things worse for all workers. If they had to compete fairly it would be a different story but they unload all the costs and risks on their workers and are known for their divisive relationship with local laws.

Protectionsm is high tariffs imported goods in order to encourage local production.
What they are explaining here is called lobbying aka corruption.

Protectionism sounds a whole lot like a monopoly.

True, I read from M. Yunus in his book about Grameen, that local monopolies, not small business, benefited from protectionist policies.

Love how you make it sound that the problem is the government when it would be even worse without it. There is no such thing as "free market"

As a big, rent-seeking company, I support protectionism 😊

The idea that super large companies need protection from small companies is very funny
